PHUKET: The Kata-Karon Hotel Business Association, Karon Municipality and a team from the Urban Design and Development Center (UDDC) at Chulalongkorn University have launched a project to transform a canal in Kata reeking with wastewater into the pristine nature tourist attraction.
 

The collaboration for the project was formalised with the signing of an Merorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Karon Municipality yesterday (Nov 12).

 

Present to sign as witness to the agreement was Phuket Vice Governor Thanyawat Chanpinit

Are they serious, wont hold my breath waiting. Good to see he used a screen to project the plan ( environmentally acceptable) instead of these hideous vinyl notice boards some other group uses daily.

Have any of these marketing geniuses been drug tested?

How to have a "pristine nature tourist attraction" when people upstream keep discharging waste water into the khlong?  It will go the same way as the "Mining museum" project in Kathu and the "floating market" khlong in Phuket town.

Then, there will not be anymore water in the khlong they are trying to beautify.

I thought "pristine naural" meant untouched or unharmed by human development.

Somehow doesn't seem relevant to a local sewer dump.
