PM gives speech to athletes competing in SEA Games

 

   

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Prime Minister has delivered a speech of well wishes to Thai athletes who will be competing in the 30th SEA Games in the Philippines, urging them to uphold the notion of sportsmanship and help promote Thai culture.

 

Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha was speaking at Government House, as Thai athletes and staff, prepare to travel to the Philippines to compete in the 30th SEA Games.

 

He encouraged the team to achieve their goals through determination, drawing on past experience and difficulties as lessons in deciding their strategy, and to ensure their physical and mental strength was focused on achieving victory.

 

The PM also reminded the athletes to observe the tenets of sportsmanship, accepting both victory and defeat with grace, and respecting the referees and spectators. He urged the athletes to promote Thai culture, tourism attractions, and cuisine to the international community as cultural ambassadors.

 

The Prime Minister also encouraged the team to help with the reformation of the sports sector, saying that the government is willing to support the development of sports, but cooperation and participation are needed in order to succeed, just as in economic development.

 

Elsewhere today, Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan, who is also the President of the Thailand Swimming Association, scheduled a meeting with Thai swimmers competing in this year’s SEA Games to give them his best wishes and encouragement.

 

The Philippines is the host country of the 30th SEA Games, which will be taking place from 30th November to 11th December this year.

The only sport he'd be any good at would be the 100m toilet dash.

 

The only event those 2 would win is the 50 metre U Turn and in cycling, the back peddling !  Who are they to give advice to athletes ??  2 of the countries biggest liars.
