Thai caption: Pump attendant to the rescue

A gas station attendant in Khon Kaen was hailed as a hero - but the woman he saved from being run over said she didn't want to be helped.

CCTV footage showed the attendant run into the road after a woman was seen walking there and apparently waiting to be knocked down.

The attendant told Sanook that the woman had parked by the toilets then walked off strangely.

She was heading towards the Friendship Highway at Ban Nano, Ban Phai - a busy road with truck trailers speeding past.

He tried to get her to come off the road but she resisted saying: "Why are you trying to help me?".

They were both nearly run down.

A passing policeman helped and the woman was brought to the safety of the gas station.

Her boyfriend came to pick her up.

They had been arguing.
