Diary of a farang in Isaan

Been away from the thread for a couple of weeks, so didn't see Owl's Cheese post. have the information he wanted.

Chern Chim - the owner sold it to concentrate on a new beer bar and mainly wholesale farang foods. The new owners (2) only had it for a few months and one died, it closed and never reopened.

There is a cheese shop - Called 'Cheese to meet you' - has been open a couple of years, on the same road as St Mary's school - take the Soi Nong bua road from the ringroad, turn left at the main road (Posri road?) and it is about 200 metres up, half way to the St Mary's school. Has cheeses, meats and other farang food.

Thanks for that Rick. I'll be popping along there no doubt.

There was another place that I don't know what happened to. The Bookhouse. I would play chess there on a Saturday. That was many moons ago though. Mildred was just a tiddler then.

Have you spoken to Ting about your nut problem Owl…?

????

Not yet HP.

But I have a plan. Have to go to Udon soon. If I'm to go on my own, which is likely, I can detour past Ban Dung, and visit her shop. Not really a detour. More like in the wrong direction.

She has lovely ears. Made to look even nicer, by her mask pulling them forward.

Beware of the jungle drums beating Owl. By the time you get home Mrs Owl could be armed and ready to take her vengeance.

Some years ago I took a drive into Pattaya alone and did some shopping in Tesco. A young lady asked me to reach something from a high shelf and we had a short conversation over our shopping carts. I drove straight home (about 25 minutes). As I got out of the car the missus was waiting for me "Who were you talking to in Tesco?"

Bang on the money. That's why I have so many hats. Also her shop sells reishi strips. But I like reishi wine anyway.

A few years ago I was accused of having sex in the middle of a sugar field. Anyone who has been in a sugar field would laugh at that. Anyone but Mrs Owl that is. Gave me hell for weeks. She was probably upset about someone else and got angry on me.

Funny enough, the sugar field is now our best euca farm.

The Owls dropped another point; at home this time.

The Owls got lucky again Owl. Conceded a penalty in the last minute and the goalkeeper saved it. Pleased to see the Argies win the World Cup even though they were singing anti English songs. Can't help but feel we'd get along really well if it wasn't for the Falkland Islands, their loss.

Did you get to see any of the WC, I know there was access problems where no broadcaster was prepared to pay for the privilege.

Mildred has some talent with her art, without a doubt, but they are all a bit samey. That talent needs developing, get your hand down and get her some additional lessons.

We all await close up pictures of Ting, is this something you'd consider or would that be an intrusion. Probably would be Tinging about it.

Condolences reference the Avocado, i'm sure he or she will be missed.

Let's hope the luck doesn't run out. Better to go for a win every time. One win and one loss is better than two draws.

I didn't see any WC footy except the goals of Eng v Iran, TBH, I'm more happy watching the English game over all seven divisions. I like a couple of Scottish teams as well. I always look for Hamilton, Cove and Banks O'Dee.

Mildred does seem to like doing portraits, but she has done other things. She likes fantasy stuff. Always reading the books by Lilin, who has published a set of four books focusing om her dreams. There is nothing much in the way or art schooling around where we are. Perhaps in Udon. Rick would know. Lots of stuff about art on the www.

Is Ting a fantasy or could she be real?

I've got a couple of cracking avoes to plant in the farm. One is just 6 months old and getting on for two metres high. very thick at the base too.

Cold this morning. I was the only one not wearing a gansey or coat when I escorted Mildred to her bus

Dogs at it again. Rubbish everywhere outside.

I was rubbishing David Popovici in the Owl Log, but he did come through in the 200 free; with a silver. He is the fastest swimmer in the pool but not a good turner. Can expect great things from him in the Long Course season. I think Biderman's 200 free world record could could go in the summer.

Hope you got your wife a nice cup for Christmas, like this one from the University of Northern Thailand .

I'm never that blunt. When she throws a cat, or a cleaver, at me and I'm upset. I might say 'Witch on a broomstick' or something like that.

Just had a cup of coffee given me. Had a sip and no salt detected. Must be waiting for her Christmas diamond.

I'm watching Orient at the moment Owl. 0-0 just now v Stevenage.

The 'O's don't get big crowds. If they get 10k it will be good.

Shame on those Iron's supporters. WHU have nicked 000's down the years. They should get behind their neighbours.

Orient for the Ch Lg in 4 years. Yea!!!!

Just looked at the stats. Looks even.

Good win for the Owls last evening; after the three draws.

Attendance 8,644 at Orient; 0-0 FT. Points gone, but still well in front.

Both Sheffields won last night. They are both on fire.

Don't look as though they will be playing each other in The Championship next season.

Over 26 thousand at Hillsborough.

Sad news with Pele. Was truly a footballing 'great'. By all accounts; a nice guy too.

Still no rain. That 52 days now. Hope it's not gonna be as bad as last year when we had 119 dry-less days on the trot.

Sorry guys. Should read '119 dry days'.

Maybe the wife is right when she says; "You monumental Silly Billy Farang."
