BANGKOK (NNT) - After instructing the economic ministers, who are from various political parties, to engage in conversations with each other more regularly, the Prime Minister, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, reminded them to work within the government framework and to deliver policies to alleviate people’s hardships.

While chairing a meeting of the economic ministers, the Prime Minister said they have to look at the bigger picture, beyond their scope of operations. They must help the country move forward, strengthen the economy and help low-and middle-income earners.

He stated that the people have pinned their hopes on the government. Therefore, the government must ease their hardships while building a better future for the agricultural, investment and industrial sectors while investing in state enterprises and stimulating domestic consumption.

The economic ministers’ meeting acknowledged a report on the economic situation released on November 18 this year. The gross domestic product (GDP) in the third quarter rose 2.4%. The meeting discussed the effects of the government’s economic stimulus measures, which were implemented in the second and third quarters. The government may consider new measures to support state enterprise investment budget disbursement in the fourth quarter and follow up on the Thai-Chinese high-speed railway project vis vis the value of China’s yuan currency.

He thinks he's still in the army and can order whatever he wants, or are the economic ministers all "ex" army?

That's very clever of him. Much better idea than steering it backwards.

But don't you agree this is a cunning idea?

Just ORDER it, and it will happen - the man deserves a Nobel price for macro economics.

Guess the shines gone off the "eat, shop, spend" stimulus now they realise they have to find a longer term solution.

Devalue the baht!!

That idea makes exactly as much sense as Prayut's idea.

(by the way, you can not devalue a floating currency)

Maybe the Thai economy would move forward if the Thai army was not at the controls.

+ Joy over Russians coming back

Etc...

Have they finally found out that things are not so good after all? Or what is now going on??

Problem solved!

Move the economy forward—but keep that hot money flowing at Bank of Thailand!

Not really. They are heading for a cliff edge.

Prayuth is such a bright light that one of his ministers even has to wear sunglasses while in a meeting with him...see him?
