National police spokesman Pol Col Krissana Pattanacharoen said that a Thai woman called Siriporn was helping police with their inquiries after a 73 year old man from the Netherlands was found dead in Bangkok's Chao Praya River.

Johannes S. was dressed in long black trousers and a short sleeve black t-shirt. He was found floating near the Samut Prakan town hall in Muang district.

There were no apparent injuries to the body which was sent for autopsy.

Pol Col Krissana said that the Dutch man had entered Thailand on a tourist visa. He had known Siriporn (surname withheld) for two months.

The couple had arranged to meet at a shop at 10 am on Tuesday. Johannes apparently told his girlfriend that he was returning to his home country.

He was later found dead.

The Dutch authorities and other Thai agencies have been informed of developments.

Police are waiting on autopsy results and refused to give any more details.

INN called it a mystery in their report.

RIP. We already know that the real cause of death will be changed in a way that it can't hurt The Land of Smiles reputation.

In Thailand at 73 years of age. Natural cause: heart stopped..

Due to???

In Thailand it would be natural cause. It's like someone went down from the 35th floor. Cause of death: Natural, heart stopped.......... or just suicide.

No investigation necessary, case solved !!!

Why's it that it's only white men that are always dying when they go to Thailand to meet their teeraks lol, how come i don't hear about chinese, Indians,  blacks ? , you come here with old age thinking these women are cheap and fools ?

Because Thai women aren't interested in them.

Maybe white men come to Thailand to meet prospective partners .after two months of testing the product, decide to call off the meeting and flying back. Thai lady do not take rejection easily and decide to do something about it. There are lots of anecdotal evidence of white men hooking up with many potential mates on certain websites before arrival and getting free hospitality with promises of marriage.

Reports claim he was wearing inflatable shoes and went for a walk on the river, but then sadly popped his clogs.

Thanks, I'm here all week, try the chicken ????

On a serious note, RIP old timer.
