I'm not generally in favor of extra judicial killings, but must admit part of me thought "Good. That sends a message."

“And there was a cross-fire. In this, all the four accused have died,” Reddy said. “Two policemen have been injured.”

Sounds like a "circular firing squad" in real life.

Hope they got the real perps.

That would be nice.  But even if they didn't, it sends a message, doesn't it?

If there's an outcry, we'll shoot someone, so stop complaining.

  • You’d think they’d have thought up a better lie than that beforehand.

  • Bit like assuming they were guilty and would be hanged before the trial had taken place.

“And there was a cross-fire. In this, all the four accused have died,” Reddy said. “Two policemen have been injured.”

Would that have been in America, it would have been "friendly fire."

Even when fire isn't always friendly. Innit?

Listening to the BBC news today, there was a report of a woman on her way to give evidence in another gang-rape case who was kidnapped, murdered and her body set on fire.

When witnesses are being intimidated, even murdered, there's not much chance of a fair trial.

Really? And whose words say what happened?

Why it was the words of the police officers involved and it happened at 03:30 or 06 ish  in the morning.

quote from the OP.

"Reddy, the police officer, said the men - two truck drivers and two truck cleaners, aged between 20 and 26 - had been taken to the spot to re-construct the crime around 6 a.m. (0030 GMT) on Friday.

“And there was a cross-fire. In this, all the four accused have died,” Reddy said. “Two policemen have been injured.”

He did not immediately provide details on how many police had escorted the four accused and whether they were handcuffed or roped together as is usually the case."

A couple of small questions for you.

1   Why were the police doing a re-enactment at that time of the morning?

2   Why were the police close enough to have a gun or guns snatched from themselves?

Spend a few years in India and you will know how the system works. Far more brutal than our beloved BiB's here.

These are just four men and one incident. There have been many many stories of gang rape in India that made international news. While they got rid of four there are many more to go. No wonder so many Indians want to immigrate elsewhere and bring their parents with them. Sounds like a hellish place.

I have never worked in India. Pakistan and Bangladesh, yes, and their police weren't too bad. Papua New Guinea was an odd place but the dealings that I had with the police there were fine and a lot better than the locals were treated.
