Featured Replies

Only a few Months ago, Tesco said they would be Investing in 720 new stores in Thailand, stating that Thailand was a very good Market for them..

They also made a profit in last years financial.

Maybe they are up for Sale in SE Asia ? Make it all very  good and bump the price to the buyers.

Just my thoughts

Whoever buys them will be taking on a major IT mess. The Thailand office failed a security audit earlier in the year and it turned out that their local IT staff let their security go to hell. Now those people have had their access removed and it's being managed from the UK, but the mess will take at least a year to untangle.

From what I have noticed is both Big C and Tesco have been doing is moving away from being places to shop for food, to being more a hard-ware stores. Tesco revamps have tended to reduce the store floor-space by squeezing the area reducing the gaps between aisles, and in Phetchabun they put Raw meat products, with fish and Bakery right on top off each other (Doughnuts smelling of minced pork!). and the kitchen only makes doughnuts and sponge cak goods, no more french bread, and only sell Tesco bread. Reducing the range of products, to promoted and brands only. Thank goodness for Makro! Brits seem to forget That Tesco in the UK, was more expensive than other stores!
