Can Thai national still get border pass to Laos with no passport?

Featured Replies

Looking at doing a run to Savannakhet for a new visa, hoping my Thai wife can go with me, but she's never gotten herself a passport.

I know that in the past Thais could get a 3 or 5 day pass into Laos just with an ID card, but the info I'm googling up is old.

Anyone have any recent experience with this?

AFAIK it is still permitted but they must stay within a limited amount of km from their point of entry. If just stopping in town, no worries.

Yes, that rule still applies. My wife goes over quite frequently on business trips.
