Fundraiser launched for Hanover Township fire chief detained in Thailand

A GoFundMe campaign launched Thursday already has raised nearly $19,000 for the family of a Hanover Township man who is being detained in Thailand.

 

Michael Morra, who is the chief of the Hanover Volunteer Fire Department, is employed by General Electric and was in Thailand working on the country's electrical infrastructure, according to the fundraising website. He is a welder, according to his LinkedIn profile.

 

While trying to board a flight home Nov. 23, he was arrested for alleged possession of contraband after Bangkok Airport security claimed to have found a single bullet in his checked luggage, according to the fundraising site.

 

Dan Stultz, a coworker of Morra's, set up the GoFundMe page to help Morra's family cover legal expenses while they work to bring him home. He did not respond to a request for comment Friday.

So a single bullet , no weapon and no access to checked luggage while leaving Thailand . Sounds like a plant to me he must have upset someone .

I had a buddy recently fly in with 3 rounds in his luggage and his treatment was nothing like this. Gotta be more to it 

Something not right about this story. 

Meanwhile, dozens of local police and military officers and assorted bigwig politicians probably slipped through with entire arsenals in their luggage as Mr. Stultz was accosted by a throng of security personnel, being treated like a terrorist.

Recently a Thai person was stopped with military grade weapons and ammunition... he was taken to the police station where a chat ensued and he walked out a few minutes later... a free man.

This has a strange odour about it.
