Donovan with Season Of The Witch off of his '66 Sunshine Superman LP.

Jackson C. Frank with Blues Run The Game off of his self-titled '65 debut.

In keeping with the theme of troubled talented songwriters.

The Waggoner's Lad by Bert Jansch off of his '66 Jack Orion LP.

David Crosby in his pre-Byrds days with Dino Valenti's Get Together back in '64.

That opening riff reminds me of the beginning of 'Twist and Shout'.

Interesting . . . I missed that but upon replaying it you're right.  I thought it was grand that in those days artists could freely do covers, or perhaps even take riffs from other artists' songs.

You're onto something there, bannork.

Perhaps a bit obscure but good nonetheless.  Susan Christie with her '67 single Rainy Day.

Bonnie Dobson with Winter's Going off of her '69 self-titled debut.

Fleetwood Mac with Sentimental Lady off of their '72 Bare Trees LP.

We've had some wonderful rain lately.

And I've come full circle (for today).

Grateful Dead with a live performance of Morning Dew from 8 May '77.

We had rain here a few days ago.  I love the rain as it seems to bring relief from hot weather (if only temporarily) 99% of the time.  That rain fell into the 1% category.  It was still hot but now humid as h3ll on top of it afterwards.

Really sad news, if not unsurprising seeing he had been on a ventilator for so long.

Wow, we lost another great one.  This calls for posting one of my favorite John Prine songs, Sam Stone, off of his self-titled '71 debut.  The lyrics are incredible . . . and sad as they're true for so many Vietnam vets.

A John Prine original, Angel From Montgomery, which has been covered so well by many artists over the years.

Another great and humourous protest song, Your Flag Decal Won't Get You Into Heaven Anymore.

Another protest song, this one about the destruction caused by Kentucky strip mining.  Also off of his debut (if you're getting the idea that I owned this album, well it couldn't be more obvious, could it?).

John Prine with Linda Goes To Mars off of his '86 German Afternoons LP.

The 1980's. Alot of amazing music. New Order. Depeche Mode. Tears for Fears. The Cure. The Eurythmics, Prince, Cameo, Bowie, Journey, Peter Gabriel, Genesis, Human League, Talking Heads, Simple Minds, Billy Idol, Joe Jackson, Pet shop boys, Fine young cannibals, the Clash, Chaka Khan, The Smiths, Kate Bush, Rick James, Public Enemy, Eric B & Rakim, LL Cool J, Boogie Down Productions, NWA, the Beastie Boys, De la soul, Biz Markie, Big daddy Kane, Cool moe dee, Queen Latifah. The list goes on, and on, and on. Some of this music has a time stamp on it, but some of it sounds incredibly fresh, and vital to this day. The 1980's was a beastly decade for music. The 1990's kind of sucked until electronica came along around 1995, and it was another monumental period, until about 2004. Since then? Not much.

An infectious number that can result in some serious foot tapping.

When you've had the same band mates for 51 years you've earned the right to have a 2013 performance of a 1983 song in the thread.  Montreux Switzerland.  Also sounds better with the volume on 11.

You forgot Fiction Factory, but they remain a one hit wonder with Feels Like Heaven,  it ended up as a great classic.
