Motorcycle Disc wheel locks comments

Featured Replies

Riders   what is your opinion of the disc wheel lock? Would you use it?  Thinking of using it say at the big parking lots.

I bought one but never used it...

To add something to your question: The lock which I bought has an alarm build in. That may be a secondary question if people use such a lock with or without alarm.

I have one too, the alarm is actually very loud LOL.

I rarely use it, only when I park in public areas where I have to leave the bike for quite some time.

But Not in condo parking, office parking, malls parking...

I was going to get one, but still not sure, I read that a bit of water/rain can totally ruin it - despite being water resistance.... !

At the end of the day, for bikes, they can just pick it up, put it at the back of a pickup and off they go. Now if you can tie a big chain to something solid, that maybe better.

Be honest all depends on how expensive your bike is and where you are, in Phuket I rarely hear of bike theft, once I forgot my keys on the bike (Forza), left it on the beach (Naiharn) went and swam and back 3 hours later and it was still there, untouched... !

I always say in LOS they don't steal, but scam, they don't kill, but torture (slow death)... ! lol

Don't understand OP  of course it's a good thing to use a disc lock all the time if leaving bike parked in say Big'C' parking.

Over night staying somewhere additional chain and padlock to a post.

Thanks for the insights.. I have a big chain and lock that I used at one time at the APT Dorm.. that was ok.. but it stayed there.. Of course you are right, the bike can be just picked up and put in a truck.  The bike is expensive yet more it is my baby.... so it is special... I would like to key it.

I suppose the locks..and especially this one  the dis lock...if a would be theft looks at it ... would act more as deterent.. too much trouble.. look for another.

Cheers

An alarm.. well ok.. Cheers mate

thieves easily smash a disc, in the uk i bought a shed alarm with tilt and 100db about £10 uk i , didnt have it in view, i put it over my rear chain, when my R1 was lifted to upright position, the alarm went off (it was loud) and also if they try to push the bike the alarm jams in the rear sprocket ,  all my mates went out and bought one,  as we know , some of these (decent) alarm locks cost a lot of money
