And introduced the ridiculously awkward and costly procedures which we Brits living in Thailand have since been required to endure at passport renewal time. Back on topic, weren't this pair also responsible for inflicting the Life Certificate nonsense on us in a particularly awkward manner, in the case of the relative pittances (when compared to occupational pensions) of our perpetually-frozen State Pensions, to add insult to injury? nausea
I'm doing an ongoing cost benefit analysis, at some stage the Phillipines is gonna look very attractive. At the moment, cos of my long residence here, I get stuff very cheap, it doesn't make sense to relocate. That may change. My UK State pension constitutes about a third of my total pension. The problem is my committments: a woman, dogs, a pick-up,, all the usual stuff. I would really like to end my days here, whether life will allow, we 'll see.

My state pension is about 28% and will die with me. However my wife will get a % of my military pension and a % of my company pensions until she dies. After that my son gets the lot but the pensions die with my wife.

If we had lived in the UK and she had pais contributions she would have had one in her own right. My pension is in my name only and as such it dies with me. What was the date of the covering DWP letter in your case, please, and is the deadline for the receipt of witnessed Life Certificates at the DWP end 16 weeks from this date (which I suspect will be common to all of us here in LOS who are about to be placed in the firing line)? Also worth noting that, in addition to the hit-and-miss postal service being experienced by some us locally here in LOS, there is considerable disruption at the UK end at the present time as a result of postal workers' strikes (which do, however, seem to be on hold at least for the time being pending the outcome of negotiations between Royal Mail and the CWU) and the Royal Mail cyber attack (which is continuing to have a negative impact on their international services). DWP really could not have picked a worse time to inflict this particular piece of bureaucratic nonsense on us, I think! https://www.royalmail.com/latest-news https://www.royalmail.com/international-incident-bulletin Edited February 2, 2023 by OJAS 2
