Why do Thai business leave up Christmas trees well into January?

Beside you, who takes down their Chrissy decorations on Boxing day ? I'd guess most leave up til at least first week in the new year.

Uh nobody, because Christmas decorations are supposed to be taken down on 12th night (January 5th).  That's when otherwise they would turn into goblins.

Everybody knows that the Christmas time ends on February the second, also called Candlemas or Maria Lichtmess in German. So what?

I guess the counter question to that is why do stores in Europe put up their Christmas decorations in October?

Or why was I able to enjoy my first hot cross bun of the year ... about 10 days ago :coffee1:

Because they havent been taught the Western superstion that it is unlucky not to take them down. They have enough superstitious nonsense of their own. Lets not burden them with more....555.

I see many businesses still have their flashing Christmas lights on their trees and we are in mid Jan. Are they just clueless? I take mine down on boxing day. Whats going on in amazing thailand?

If you don't take them down on the 12th night then it is very unlucky unless you leave them up until Easter. ????

Why would you take down your Christmas tree in March? It's green! And, as such, looks great with shamrocks.
