Are there any official Apple stores outside Bangkok ? I don't see any. I'm interested in Chiang Rai in particular.

Only iStudio in Chiangrai. Sorry for the confusion. There is only one Apple store and Thailand I believe at iconSorry for the confusion. There is only one Apple store in Thailand I believe.

Proceeding on the site shows VAT on separate line as 3002.80 Baht.

And that is correct math for 45900 after VAT.

I did a search on Apple's site, for Chiang Rai and iPhones, and interestingly that didn't come up. Just two authorised sellers allegedly, both within Big C - Banana and Power Buy.

I believe iStudio is an authorized Apple re-seller and is located in the Central Shopping Mall here in Chiangrai, along with other sellers like you mentioned above.  The iStudio shop is a stand alone shop and has a wider selection of Apple products with more knowledgable staff.  I buy all my Apple products from them.

Thanks, I've also found their phone number so will phone ahead to make sure they have the right colour, storage amount etc. No idea how much stock they hold. That will be around middle of next month.
