DrTuner
The backlog was 220 pending cases in yesterday's report. The real number is likely much higher.

In that environment (office worker types and tourists), I'm estimating that the mask wearing population I'm seeing is somewhere between 50 and 75%, just from eyeing everyone I come across. The mask wearers here are definitely outnumbering the others. That said, A LOT of the Thais are only wearing the paper drug store type masks or varying versions of those. 2

Not comparing the two, but it was in the 1600's. And of course, "Ring a Roses" describes Plague symptoms. I don't think it does . the next verse is ' Atishoo atishoo they all stand up .' I may be wrong so one of us might have to go google.

Popular Post BobbyL
It was inevitable. They couldn't / didn't do anything to try and stop this arriving here and now it has started. I expect a lot more cases to be confirmed soon. I doubt this will become a huge epidemic, but still it typifies Thailand's laissez faire attitude to literally everything. 4

Whether it protects me any better or not, I feel it is better than a skimpy surgery mask, hopefully time doesn't have to tell me. School holidays coming in 6 weeks, might have to keep the kids home, now that is going to hurt, 4 kids !!! cardinalblue
No flights no virus.... willful negligence by Thai health authorities... n-95 is also the minimum proper protection against mode of transmission... surgical masks are a joke... zydeco
Well, I hope it was the taxi driver who refused to take me to my regularly scheduled appointment at a local hospital today. Apparently, he was afraid of even driving to the hospital. And when I got there? Almost nobody inside the waiting area. Usually, there are around 100 people waiting for the various physicians. Today, maybe four or five.

Popular Post RubbaJohnny
Risk for all those in close proximty Masseuses,Drs nurses dentists etc Food prep unless seen will lead to more home meals as a way to avoid crowds I feel very sorry those using public transpoert I guess boomtime for coffin ,mask and gogglemongers I also foresee surge in contactless payment demand It may well be too late but I expect fear from air crew, airport workers, immigration and teachers to close things down until the risk has passed. Who knows should the wise leaders may yet be unexpectedly contradicted they might offer overstay pardons for those who dont relish airports, plane travel and ..aherm exposure. ExpatOilWorker
Thailand could very well end up being the first country with a fatality, due to the virus, outside of China. Time will tell.
