If you have a safety car or red flag when someone is well in the lead, that lead should be maintained when the race resumes. Under a virtual safety car it is! Pit stops should be banned under SC rules and no tyre changes under a red flag!

The sponsors wanted a race, the owners of F1 wanted a race, the viewers wanted a race. Nobody wanted a race, especially THIS race. to end as a procession of cars following a safety car.

Masi allowed five cars to unlap, albeit belatedly and they all got the one-lap race that they wanted. In a quick draw shoot-out, someone always loses and it's always the slower gun.

If you eliminate tire changes under a safety car, then it's back to processional, formulaic races. Especially so with Tilke's dead hand of race track design dominating these new circuits.

The red flag requires that all cars exit the track in their current order into the closed pit lane. Not too many races get red carded for eliminating tire changes during the 'pit stop' to have any sort of significant impact.

Well there is no doubt that MV is quick. But he is a dirty driver… reminds me of when MS took out Damon Hill to stop him winning a world championship.

And this season his son has caused a problem for LH by his crashes…

LH was correct when he commented’ ‘kin idiot’.

A big pity that LH doesn’t have even just one more point as no doubt MV will take them both out if he needs to in the final race ……

It was about time MV was pulled up for his antics….

Next year will be interesting as Russel will be mixing it with them…

I recall that James Hunt upset a fair few of his contemporaries at the time. Probably needed to have that ability to get anywhere close to Lauda, another driver who did things 'differently'.

Russell has to catch up with Hamilton before he can think about gunning for Verstappen.

PS: It was Latifi's crash that undid Hamilton's most important race. That and another no-show by Bottas so your ace didn't have a wingman like Pérez was for Verstappen.

Fwiw for 53 laps they had a race...in fact they had 3 races ...Hamilton v the field for 53 laps ...then v Perez for 3 laps (?).....then a one lap farce to decide the winner of the entire season....sad in mho.

And who helped Latifi into the barriers….

Oh no! Not the world famous 7-time champion German guy's son?

Latifi's a two-season green horn who simply got it wrong and who only keeps his seat at Williams in 2022 because Russell is leaving.

Or maybe his slide and rear-wing fold in FP2 was just a trial run?

And then there was Räikkönen's ass-slam at the same turn 14 as Latifi?

Lap 1 and lap 58 were the only TWO must-see events of this farce.
