Pier connecting Chao Phraya Express with Purple Line finally going ahead.

Featured Replies

The area in between the western exit/entrance to the Phra Nang Klao Bridge station and the river has been cleared and it looks like construction is about to start. Apparently this almost 100m project will include some shops and a "skywalk". Due for completion March next year.

This signboard went up recently.

The blue line is connected at Bang Pho Pier, and they are working on the Pier, but the boats are still using the other side...I wonder when that will start operating...nice walkway.  Station opens for real in April or so.

Finally! they also promised to build more new piers along the river and even new airconditioned boats iirc.

Great that we don't need to go to that filthy nonthaburi pier after this is finished.

It will be interesting to see how the pier is designed and constructed. I have driven my fairly nimble 18' boat in close to the bank there to drop someone off and I can't see how one of those long hulled Chao Phraya express boats could possibly be navigated in there because there are pylons from 3 separate bridges all at a different distance from the bank. Plus you have current which is alternating in direction. The only solution I can see is if the pier is built well out into the river. That isn't ideal and I can't think of any other pier on the river like that. But I'm not an engineer so perhaps they have a clever solution.

They are expanding the Nonthaburi Pier, and that will remain a main one.  Fun place to hangout, but it has its moments.

Nearing completion now. It's quite a little project. Looks like there is space for 30-40 shops, restaurants, cafes along the 100M walkway from the MRT station to the pier and in the 2 floors of the building adjacent to the pier.

View from the other side of the river. The pier on the left. Phran Nang Klao Hospital on the right and the purple line MRT bridge in the middle
