PHUKET:-- Police are now looking for some 30 youth members of a motorbike street racing gang after the gang revved their motorbikes as a final farewell at the funeral of a 13-year-old student who died in a motorbike accident while trying to evade a police checkpoint.

Chalong Police Chief Col Sarawut Chuprasit explained that a 13-year-old boy died in a motorbike accident after trying to escape a police checkpoint last Thursday night (Feb 13).

Col Sarawut did not elaborate on where or what time the accident occurred, or whether police were in pursuit when the 13-year-old died.

They don't seem to care about the LOSOs either, other than talk. Suppose the racing will continue as usual.....

If the police did their job correctly there wouldn't be any 13 year old riding motorbikes this is why other countries have rules and regulations which are policed correctly.

Was lately in Pattaya after a 6 years break. What a change! Never seen so many motorcycle riders without helmet. Just shows that traffic law enforcers prefer their aircon station than enforcing laws.

Be honest I'd much rather they got off their bottoms and arrested murderers and child rapist and errant monks than a revving motorbike

There are not many of them in PHUKET which is what this article is about.

Oh, that's just darling. The little Honda wave noise boys paying tribute to one of their own, just like the big boys. Those are some tough little cookies. His mommy must be very proud. RIP.

No motorbike gangs here in Siem Reap - roads too narrow, rough dirt, broken or potholed for such noisy behavior - bliss!!

Young wannabe rebels, sadly they see themselves as cool....when really, they are just ''annoying little mutts''on scooters that sound like old broken wash machines.the newest fad is the ''backfire'' so these idiots scream around our neibourhood then back off the gas ,enjoying the bang bang pop pop...

That just shows lack of maintenance and daddy will buy me a new one when this one breaks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is it just me getting older and grumpier or are there more and more extremely noisy motorbikes and scooters on Phuket's roads? Absolute pain in the backside, and it's not just locals; the French North Africans also seem to have a penchant for such machines.
