Ride today in a new totally Yellow Meter Taxi here in Bangkok noticed no normal meter - a flat phone type display with GPS with map and fare at top right.  Was in rear seat so did not get close view but appeared to be official and fare was normal amount.  Had not seen any talk of a new meter going into service.  Was similar looking to below but map display covered almost entire screen.

I had a normal taxi ride today also, just as you did and just as I do 99% of the time in Bangkok.
