Making a Will in Thailand

Can I make a WILL in Thailand that would pass my UK estate to my son who lives in the UK or must it be made in the UK ?

I have an existing WILL of some 8 years but circumstances have changed and the solicitors holding my WILL said any changes mean writing a new WILL

No - it can be made anywhere with the caveat that it meets the right criteria. Eg signed and witnessed correctly and the wording clear and unambiguous to avoid problems. Especially make it clear it revokes any previous wills.

Who have you nominated (or will nominate) as the executor? If your son (presumably old enough?) I would send the original to him.

Except any separate will covering one's assets in Thailand.

Many thanks Topt ,

My son is the executor .  So a hand written WILL , signed by 2 witnesses resident in Thailand would be legal and binding ?

If you're making a will under English law, there's no need for it to be handwritten.  Typed (and of course, signed and witnessed) is clearer and potentially less ambiguous.  If you're making it under Thai law and it's handwritten, no witnesses are required.
