March 2, 20206 yr Popular Post Measures employed to ensure coins are Covid-19 free By THE NATION Treasury Department director-general Yutthana Yimkarun said his department has been employing measures to make sure coins are clean and free of germs as many people are worried that coins might be a factor boosting the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus. “All new coins manufactured at the Royal Thai Mint will be disinfected before being circulated,” he said. “As for coins that have been exchanged and are back at the department for sorting and cleaning, they too will be disinfected before re-circulation.” Yutthana said the department has six coin exchange offices nationwide and they have been instructed to use caution to prevent the spread of germs. “All coins at exchange centres will be disinfected then sealed airtight before distribution, so people can rest assured that their newly exchanged coins are clean,” he said. “Moreover, I have instructed all staff to wear face masks at work and use hand sanitisers when they finish handling coins as a precaution against Covid-19. “However, for coins that have been in circulation for some time and have not yet returned to us, they still carry the risk of spreading the virus,” said Yutthana. “People therefore need to take care by washing their hands regularly or using a hand sanitiser.” Source: https://www.nationthailand.com/news/30383170 -- © Copyright The Nation Thailand 2020-03-02 Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking Thailand news and visa info
March 2, 20206 yr Popular Post absolutely <deleted> hilarious, couldnt be more stupid if they tried.........and after the factory?
March 2, 20206 yr Popular Post They should just put a bowl of bleach next to every cash register in the country and instead of handing the coins to you directly, dump them in the bowl and let you retrieve them yourself. How about just tell people to wash their hands more and not suck on coins?

And what about the bank notes , much larger and could carry much more covid-19 than a coin .

March 2, 20206 yr Popular Post It's magical. Every little bureaucrat, sorry "civil servant," is coming out from the woods... so he can throw his inane little idea linked to the Wuwuflu virus in front of cameras and journalists (and with his nice uniform). This stuff becomes trendy. ???? As for the Treasury Department director-general, I've got a burning question : shoud I clean... my bills ? And if yes, which cleaning powder should I use ? Omo ? Last but not least : is money laundering okay ? I mean regarding the virus ?

As a lot if us know from leaving notes in clothes pockets which then go through the wash, some of the ink washes off them, making them appear as if they are fake.
March 2, 20206 yr Popular Post Agree notes would be more risky than coins. Maybe put the dodgy notes in a brown envelope. ????❤????????
March 2, 20206 yr Popular Post Appears Ole Yuttana is wanting to get in the spot light. What a load of boll+++s, no need to disinfect new coins, but there are billions in circulation requiring disinfected. Stay tuned for the next crazy announcement from the loonie bunch.

Notes will always be warmly welcomed as a low risk item. Twenties however are not so universally appreciated due to their wide circulation and low monetary value. The local phrase "kee niao" can be translated to "have you sterilised this banknote?"
March 3, 20206 yr Popular Post What a load of bureaucratic hogwash! So, how about the millions and millions of old and used coins being circulated on a daily basis throughout local markets, stalls, stores and supermarkets throughout the entire country?
March 3, 20206 yr leave all the coins as a tip ... lol next restaurants give you change only in coins
March 3, 20206 yr OK so here's some actual sensible advice re coin handling.. Covid-19 lives on metal for up to 12 hours so handling coins is a consideration. Maybe consider carrying a coin purse and have the payer place them in it, then place the coins in a cup of hot water once you're home.
March 3, 20206 yr The agenda is to go cashless !!! Smart idea to use the fear of a virus ... not a big surprise though.
March 3, 20206 yr Do they also disinfect the brown enveloppes ? ????...ok will there be a notice in every government building to use plastic bags for the "donations" ?
March 3, 20206 yr Ok let's suppose we can keep coins virus-free now. What else do we have to worry about? The possibilies are endless I'm afraid. I heard hamaz suits are hot fashion items at the moment somewhere in Japan - or France, I'm not sure.

Ah, but you can possibly catch the virus from plastic cards and smart phones from contaminated people who may have sneezed or coughed into their hands without washing them!
