Covid 19: things don't add up

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

Since we started getting the first news about this new virus, I have been trying to put two and two together, without success.

Things simply don't add up.

Let's start with a few examples.

The flu has been mentioned again and again, and partly for good reason.

This virus comes back year after year and kills, on average, 600,000 people each time.

Cars, which have been mentioned by some members, kill on aversge 1.2 million people every year.

Pollution and the general poisoning of everything we eat, drink and breathe, kill much more than that, mostly indirectly through cancers and other niceties.

What are governments doing about that?

Nothing, niente, nada...business and money first, people...who cares about people?

Enter the coronavirus and suddenly, after only 140,000 cases and a few thousands deaths, the world comes at a standstill!

Yet, even if the virus was let to roam free and ended up killing, say, a couple million people per year, governments wouldn't care...in normal circumstances.

Why would they?

Cars have killed more than WWII and manufacturers have not been shut down.

But now everything is shut down for a virus that, we are told, is not so dangerous after all.

And here is where things don't add up:

the precipitation to shut down everything, combined with the obvious reluctance for testing.

For example, as of yesterday, Friday, the CDC in the USA had tested less than 100 persons during this week!

Wouldn't it be more efficient to focus all the efforts on testing, going door to door if necessary, rather than on shutting down whole countries, cities and businesses?

Despite the high cost of the test, it would still be way cheaper than the cost of bringing the economy to a halt.

Which leads to two possible hypothesis, although there are probably more.

The first hypothesis is that we are not told the whole truth about the virus, because it's too awful to contemplate.

The second one is that the virus is used as an opportunity to bring down the moribund global economy, which was crumbling under mountains of debt, and to reboot the system.

If the latter hypothesis is right, we will know soon enough, because drastic changes will be implemented by the authorities while everyone is busy to run for cover.

Your thoughts are welcome...

If you ceased trying to add 2 and 2 using Hamiltonian quaternions, you might make more progress.
