Yeah, but it´s in the US. Maybe they believe they can shoot the virus.

  • Popular Post

maybe it is because they know what come next.

Maybe it's because they are overly paranoid and that's what Americans do. I'm willing to bet a majority of them associate the virus with zombie apocalypse, far too much TV watching for their own good.

It is a gun shop in Culver City California.

Culver City is next to Inglewood. If you have ever been to Inglewood you would be standing in line too.

most likely a sale on Mr. 9mm ammo.

It's a fact that some Americans first point of reference seems to be something fictional. Just see the quotes on here as things unfold. I like 'Orwellian.' ????

North Korea's approach....

  • Popular Post

There's a certain faction of people that use these/any tragedies/events to loot & pillage.....

Many empty, unattended businesses  will be prime targets for these folks.....

People are gearing up.....

These are the honest people lining up for background checks & registration - the others get theirs through different means....

I had a couple of mind changers when I lived there.....Wish I still had the Dan Wesson.....

There's always a rush to buy guns and ammo here anytime there's a "crisis".  .22 LR completely out of stock at my local gun store last thursday

Do you see any picture of North Koreans lining up to buy guns?

Enjoy your denigration of Americans...????

I've given up trying to understand the American obsession with guns. To me, there's no difference from the Thai logic of raising prices when they have fewer customers.

Ammo shortages are a common phenomenon.

Americans shooters shoot a lot. When I was shooting, I could do thousands rounds of ammo on a weekend. You can easily shoot up 100,000 rounds in a year. And since ammo is not controlled, anyone can buy it from big interstate wholesalers and importers, in bulk.

As soon as there is a crisis Americans know whats gonna happen. Big backyard traders are putting up $50,000 and buying as much as possibkle so that as the shortages continue, they can turn a fat profit at gun shows and flea markets. Ive seen .22 ammo selling for $5 plus a box of 50, normally $1. And .223 and 9mm? And 40 for that matter. And 308. Military and LE get priority.  And there is only so much to begin with. So everybody rushes to the Big Box Stores and importers/wholsalers to get ammo at normal prices, that sells out fast. Then the smaller shops make a bit more profit. Then the gougers (or crows as we used to call them) mark it up to stupid levels, folks freak out, and go scurrying around to find the next shipment at a big box store,or importer..

The try to find primers, powder, cases, bullets if you roll your own.

By the way, thats Rettigs gunshop, very famous, Ive bought Lugers from them. They used to be a go to place for quality Smith and Wessons too, now that I think about, I bought a super nice S&W 1917 from them like my Grandpa carried in France during the Great war.

It has always been a constitutional right to own a gun.

You can legally keep it in your home for protection. There is a background check conducted before you can take possession.  It is not that strict however, unless you are a felon, or fall into other risk categories.

Depending on the state mostly for home protection only, but several have open carry OK laws.  Which means you can walk around your town with a gun on your side.   Some restrictions may apply.

These gun runs have happened before this century.

Mostly:

9/11

Obama elected

Now

People think there is a chance for panic and desperation and want to have a gun to protect their home and family.  Many people have and will lose their jobs and resources may get stretched.  The potential for a rise in criminal activity is possible.  And most bad guys/criminals have guns so the need for some to have one for peace of mind is there.

I had two guns when I lived there.  I actually enjoyed going to the gun range and shooting for sport.  Otherwise, kept them locked up in a gun safe.

To add, there are some crazies there of course.  Gun obsessed always thinking the world is coming to an end.

I'm not going to argue with you. Been there, done that with Nyezhov. IMO any society that enables crazies to kill their own children is deranged. Nothing was learned from Sandy Hook.

One of our Prime Ministers said a crisis brings out the best in Australians. Are you telling me a crisis brings out the worst in Americans?

No argument.

Just trying to explain some info. about gun purchases, laws, and the possible reasons for it.

As far as your crisis question, no need to address it from me. I think your history of comments and feelings toward Americans pretty much answers the question for you.

Perhaps you should view my comments from the viewpoint it's preferable to have someone who gives you some unvarnished truth, instead of telling you what you want to hear.

BTW, I have had several American golfing friends. I still miss one of them, a credit to his country.

Why? Because he didnt have a gun and subscribed to your silly politics?

Didnt we just have this conversation? You are a fabulous human being and I love you as a brother, albiet you are a bit deranged,  but anyway, you are from Oz dude, you political opinions dont matter, you need to confine yourself to Oz like things like excessive drinking and blonde chicks.

You are just letting your Yank animus roll because I am nailing younger than you are. Please dont embarass me when you arrive, leave the plaid knickers and the Tam at home.

Is that the play ground of the Inglewood boys ?

You probably have the usual nutballs screaming about a 2 week disruption in supply chain results in emptying of grocery shelves, five days without food results in starvation, results in madness! This kind of stuff spreads into the mind like a virus, and sticks there longer then covid-19. It's troubling. Social media fun fun fun!

When have many customer, the thai boss give discount because kind. Not greedy.

When not have many customer, can not give discount because pay rent, staff etc.

I not see why “American obsession with guns” link to the thai business prices?

But every thread must be the thaibash.

Good job.

Remember, the neighborhood Butch has to go back to in "Pulp Fiction" to retrieve his watch? It looks a bit like that actually. Not saying it was filmed there, but all those cities around LA look like that.

You would have had to have been a Yank raised in "Flyover Country USA".  "Guilty as charged."
I grew up in a era where we had gun racks in our pickups and it was a common sight see trucks in the school parking lot with a deer rifle or shotgun in the rack.  And we had no school shootings.  And we didn't lock that doors at night.

Those that don't "get it" never will.  We forgive you.
