Businesses were complying with orders to shut until the end of the month. They posted plenty of pictures of the quiet, deserted streets. kingofthemountain Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 For some reasons they close all the bars but all the massage can still stay open maybe the virus do not like the massages boum boum ? Also all the guest house or hotel with a bar inside can have the bar open Thai logic as usual 2
Don Mega Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 They should demand the beach complies with the order, if it does not fine it Bt.100,000 and toss it in jail for a year. 1

In my BKK neighborhood, all the regular Thai massage shops appear to be closed as per the local order...even moreso than the drinks only bars, where some are actually still operating. 1

It should nave been done a lent time ago. Exactly that is the point. Doing so that Thai and Chines can't be infected but only Farang if they don't wear mask in the beginning of this problem. Especially taking the business of the hundreds of thousands Chinese from Wuhan and other place in China over the CNY before even just planning any fight against the virus. Also the uncontrolled import from Thai people, who spread the disease without control and no measures, increase the hidden count of infection. Thai logic, what you can't see or know, does not exist do not help here. Everybody can help to reduce. I stay at home, which I did anyway also before. But now I reduce contact to people outside my house as much as I can. I don't want get infected from outside, but I still live here now many years as my second home. This government seems not really suitable to manage the situation. Even as ex military, which should know the command structure, they speak all different from the PM down to the vice vice spare speaker off any official department. Can't even hold at least one official government web site updated. We all have fear. But also Farang live long time already in retirement, spend money for normal things, handymen etc. or have any business and thought they could become part of the community. I learn from now, Farang will never be welcome by the government, except they spend 2 Million for a privilege visa. Will see in the future when you think back at the time before you took over the steering wheal, if that was really so bad if no more tourist, even from China or India will come to Thailand. Not only tourists, also Investors are shy like deer and think twice about the actual situation, when they see how the government manage crisis 3 1
Popular Post champers Posted March 20, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 20, 2020 I am sat on the beach now and there is plenty room to self isolate. In Pattaya the genie was out of the bottle long ago when Chinese tour groups and others were freely arriving here from Wuhan after the crisis began there. 6
Matzzon Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 Obvious there are too many morons in Thailand, disregarding nationality, citizens or race. Instead of going home and try to keep away from each other and many people, then they gather for a party on the beach. Say a lot about human intelligence and the respect for fellow human beings. 1 1 1

The only thing i see wrong there is the quack in China waved the flag in December 2019... With the number of tour groups from China doing the snake walk up WS on a nightly basis why isn't walking street ground zero for Coronavirus in Asia if others were freely arriving here from Wuhan before the crisis started officially. 1 1

As their Russian language newspaper's and internet is saying there is no problem why would they not be acting as normal. It will slowly sink in as they start asking why everything is shutting down. Do not blame them they are just too trusting of their leaders as are Thai's. I know one or two fairly educated Thais and I can guarantee they will be in lockdown or something similar. 2
DefaultName Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 As to the beach, isn't a regular dip in salt water a good way to disinfect? 2
Isaanbiker Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 They said there were lots of tourists on the beach - though they had no picture evidence of this. The beach road after dark was always diseased even before the virus. Many freelancers and cheap Charlies who didn't want to pay a bar fine. It's understandable that they do not show photos of something that doesn't exist. But for what do we have Google? 1

If I remember correctly there where 7000 from Wuhan and 11 million + from China as a whole tourist to Thailand in 2019/early 2020 but somehow they managed not to spread the virus ?????? 2

That's quite an old photo..they did away with those round "seats" presumably to stop the "undesirables" sitting there..it used to be good fun just to sit with a 7/11 beer and watch the world go by listen to the music from the bars opposite and talk with the (mostly) girls. 7 1

chilly07 Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 No sign of anything closing in South Pattaya. Tesco car park full. Plenty of traffic on road. Thais and Tourists everywhere. Rumour has it that Thais very angry about cancelling Songran. Full on party next door last night. Thais don't like to be told what not to do! 2

Actually it's the best thing to happen.... a couple of weeks of forced separation from crowds might just slow down the infection rate. Thais/tourists won't do it voluntarily so it has to be this way.
