Why would the government close down post offices? It's an important national service function.

And just a few days ago ThaiPost was advertising it's small parcel, letter mail services with a play about increased mail activity because more people buying on line to avoid contact with people in shops.

I went to my local PO (Yanna Wa area) and asked about this.  The duty manager told me that he gets almost daily updates from the regional office about handling policies and the like - for example what to clean and how often, but he said it was made clear earlier that the Thai Post, as a governmental function, won’t stop... but we both agreed that it wouldn’t be impossible to see some branches close and consolidate their customer-facing operations. Delivery is a bit harder as each PO gets their own nightly delivery based on their geographic delivery zone - so IF the post were to start wholesale closing of some offices, the distribution zones would have to be redrawn... I’ll bet that in the more dense, urban areas this consolidation would be more doable, but less so in the more thinly populated areas.

what he did say is it or could become an issue is the storage of undeliverable mail/parcels that are  addressed to places that are now closed.
