webfact Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 Pattaya: Mayor's deputy "blows a fuse" over "negligent" mishandling of coronavirus crisis File photo Manager reported that a deputy of Pattaya mayor Sontaya Khunpluem convened a meeting of senior officials who were openly criticised for failures in handling the coronavirus crisis at the resort. The media said Sutham Petchket "blew a fuse" after it emerged that information and travel history about six foreigners and a Thai with coronavirus had not been passed on. In addition there were still people openly congregating in places like entertainment venues and tourist sites and boxing places in contravention of the regulations. Sutham's dressing down plainly stated that civil servants in Pattaya were not doing their jobs properly and the resort looked hopeless in comparison to other provinces and places in Thailand where stringent measures were in place to limit the spread of the virus. Other places were following procedures laid down by the government and health authorities so why was this not happening in Pattaya, he demanded. He outlined how things were going to be from now on with clearer job responsibilities and inquiries into who was not doing their work properly and why. Manager even reported that Sutham used vocabulary that translates as negligent and careless regarding Pattaya's response to the Covid-19 crisis so far. He said the mishandling of the response could have a severe impact on public health, the economy and tourism. Manager said in their headline that there was shock in Pattaya about the latest cases now being treated at public and private hospitals. Where does he get these ideas from? Must have been mixing with too many ferangs and their attitude has rubbed off on him quicker than you can say 'Covid'. So why are Restaurants remaining open to sitting customers all over the City of Pattaya Like Bangkok and other provinces all over Thailand THEY SHOULD BE "TAKE AWAY" OR "DELIVERY" So why is Pattaya ignoring this and the governor posting the most incomprehensible nonsense I have ever read trying to justify it just this morning Kindly explain why they are still open !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 4
thailand49 Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 Too bad they have no power on the Darkside, it is a free for all out here at night and that includes the Nongrue police gambling houses. 1 1

Prayuth has no power at all in Pattaya, that's why the taxi's also don't use a meter. 1 1

And the liquor store on Soi Khao Noi allowing patrons to sit around a table drinking beer (no social distancing there). I thought you needed a licence to sell liquor to people to drink on premises

Reigntax Posted March 28, 2020 Posted March 28, 2020 (edited) No. The civil servants were just doing their normal standard of work. Ignore everything important and do menial tasks. Edited March 28, 2020 by Reigntax Typo
