Nine separate documents are now required for foreigners stranded in #Thailand to extend their stay for up to 30 days, the immigration said, on the grounds of “national security.”

Are these being requested for the special 2nd extension or are they being requested for the standard first extension of a 30-day visa exempt stamp?

“Indeed, we are requiring more documents than usual because there are those who want to exploit the opportunity,” Col. Phakkhaphong said. “We are doing our best to provide the best service, but bearing in mind that national security is our utmost priority.”

Anybody going to post how Thailand welcomes foreigners staying here?.

I can't provide all the required documentation, nor do I want to risk going to immigration to walk out ill and not even know it. This means after tomorrow, I am officially on overstay. Once this is over I don't think I will ever come back to Thailand again. That's how disgusted I am at this insatiable greed.

Only for the 2nd extension at a few offices. Each one has their own requirements.

Most I have seen reports about it are in the central region of the country. Apparently Division 3 is requiring it. But Bangkok is under division one and not requiring them.

Lunacy. What planet are these immigration officers on? The greatest threat to Thai national security is COVID-19 - and the possibility of officials buggering it up.

Let the overstays commence.????

Several off topic, inflammatory posts and replies to them have been removed.

I went today and I was on a tourist 60, already used up my extension last month so I’ve had 90.

the only things I brought was

passport

photocopy of passport

photocopy of tourist visa and previous extension stamps

1900 fee

1 passport photo (yes only one)

uk embassy letter printed

The lady didn’t even say one word to me about any of the documents apart from sign all the pieces of paper.

they stamped me for 15 day’s , they want me to go back in 15 days and they will stamp me again for the other 15 days. So 30 in total. It’s a pointless exercise and it’s creating more foot traffic into their office during this pandemic but this is Thailand and the tourist industry is going to drop dramatically in the future after how they have dealt with this I imagine.

Very true, most if not all other countries have granted automatic extensions a week or 2 ago.

Very poor actions have been taken, causing stress and danger for a lot of foreigners and danger to immigration officers.

I am not certain but I am pretty sure if her name is on the rabien Bahn housebook they will accept her. My wife  lives with her brother who I guess owns the family house but she has signed TM30 documents for me. I am sure her father will have a very sorry foot tomorrow making it impossible for him to walk to immigration even though he was so looking forward to the trip.

Soon there won't be enough Trees and Hemp plants to make paper in Thailand. Why don't Immigration get the ok and Plant a chip in All of us . Would be easy for us and them. No more 90 day Report No more Extensions No more Immigration Office Waits for Hrs on end , Easy peasy. They than Know Where we are 24/7. They also could do it with the Phone chip but than the smart <deleted> Like Me won't take their Phone with them. ????

When will this madness end? A photo sent to me of the queue outside Immigration in Phuket. Still many tourists trapped on the island as many flights have been cancelled & there’re no buses off the island. No sign of a visa amnesty coming any time soon

Surely the Embassies can step in and highlight this lunacy......I was down in Jomtien the other day and it was a mess..... queued for over an hour and then was turned away and told come next week.......it'll be a miracle if there is not a mass outbreak of Covid from one of the IO offices.....and then they'll blame the foreigners..

If I was a tourist with no ties here, i would just overstay, pay the fine at the airport and never come back.....

There is still a risk of getting caught on overstay and being sent to IDC

It’s ok immigration recycle paper. Next time they give you a written piece of information, check on the back it’s probably got some tourists passport bio page printed on it...555

I'm sure that we will all be required to have a smartphone with the app on soon.  No need for an ankle bracelet and a lot cheeper for them

What peculiar form of madness is this? The country is locked down and we're all in this mess together, the xenophobes in Immigration should pack up and return to the safety of their homes until this is over.

This country has no National Security problem.

Who would want it?

I really feel sorry for all those Tourists.

I could be wrong but I don’t think these requirements are necessary for the normal tourist who are here on visa exempt or tourist visa. A normal tourist gets automatic first extension.

Wonder How I can get the Thai Owner of my lease to go with me, maybe the immigration officers can go get her from NY City where she lives.  Looks like I can not meet the new requirements when its time....solly, no estencion for yu.....time you leave my country....

If the overstay is less than 90 days - nothing prevents you legally from coming back.

Who told you that? At this moment - nobody gets automatic extensions in Thailand.
