Jonathan Fairfield
Prayut orders halt to arrivals from overseas to curb virus spread Dr. Thaveesilp Wissanuyothin The government is focusing its attempts to curb the spread of the coronavirus on Thais and foreigners entering Thailand from overseas as the 104 new infection cases were reported today with three deaths. The Foreign Ministry has been assigned to work out measures to restrict their arrivals for the next two weeks, according to Dr. Thaveesilp Wissanuyothin, spokesman of the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA). Thaveesilp said Thais who returned from overseas and foreign visitors are partly responsible for the continuing rise in the number of new infections. “Though the number of travelers from overseas has significantly declined, the prime minister believes more need to be done to stem overseas arrivals in order to further flatten the curve,” said Thaveesilp. Tropicalevo
Unfortunately he seems to be correct this time. We have three cases here on Samui. Two were returning Frenchmen arriving in March and the third is believed to be a doctor. Edited April 2, 2020 by Tropicalevo 1
Popular Post tso310
Certainly from the UK many Thais left a couple of weeks ago or should I say the Thais from families that mattered. They even hired a Thai doctor to issue certificates from a makeshift consulate in one of hotels near Heathrow. 4

All Thai citizens do have the right to enter Thailand, Yes However that doesn’t allow them to enter Thailand at any time. and even if it did (and I’m pretty sure it doesn’t) the government can issue a temporary order shutting down of all borders to all travelers, 2 1

Popular Post pookondee
Not so long ago the idea of not letting citizens in from just 1 certain country would have been enough. You can only shake your head and hope the best for the sane people in Thailand. 9 1 3

Section 39 of the Constitution: Quote No person of Thai nationality shall be deported or prohibited from entering the Kingdom. Section 5 of the Constitution: Quote The Constitution is the supreme law of the State. The provisions of any law, rule or regulation or any acts, which are contrary to or inconsistent with the Constitution, shall be unenforceable. However, Section 50 (6) of the constitution states that Thai people have a duty to: Quote respect and not to violate the rights and liberties of other people and not to commit any act which may cause disharmony or hatred in society It would be for the Constitutional Court to decide on this matter. 1

A drugs paety was raided in Puket, with Thais and foreigners arrested. Plenty of covid still being spread among the punters who paid money to come here and have fun. Not sure, but i do know they can and will close all entry and exit points, no one in or out, only flights in will be cargo, and only flights out cargo, and not the human type. Popular Post berrec
Thaveesilp said Thais who returned from overseas and foreign visitors are partly responsible for the continuing rise in the number of new infections. After reading the full story I came to the conclusion. What a crock of BS, the word partly means he has no dam idea currently what the partly % contribution is... But agree bite the bullet, shut the place down tonight, put all incoming passengers in 14+ days quarantine. The virus has been well embedded in Thailand now from all the overseas travelers in Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb and March. The outbreak was declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on 30 January 2020. On 11 February 2020, WHO announced a name for the new corona virus disease: COVID-19. The World Health Organization (WHO) on 11 March 2020 declared COVID-19 a pandemic,. It will progress though the population now like is has done in other countries around the world, why would Thailand be any different? That is when these empty heads in government should have been addressing the issue of shutting it down earlier, at least in Feb. So sorry for the Thai people and foreigners living here now, suffering the consequences of an inept government. 3

Popular Post christophe75
It's funny... nobody seems to understand what he really said ! -no arrival for 2 weeks -because we need time to build "state quarantine facilities" ! Logical conclusion : -after 2 weeks, they could impose a new rule : anyone coming into Thailand (thai and foreigner) would be... sent to a "state quarantine" (camp). Compulsory. Furthermore, it shows that they foresee the need of such "facilities"... This inane order (how many people are coming into Thailand right now, anyway ?) is a way to hide/justify the construction of those "facilities". It's pure manipulation Beneath, Prayuth continues to use the -absurd- card : "infection = foreigners coming to Thailand" for PR needs. 4
