Lost my green book - Need tax

Featured Replies

Hi guys

can:t find my green book for the motorbike anywhere. Need to tax the bike

Will keep looking for a bit longer, but if not, how do i go about getting a new one?

What what i need to take to the land offices to get a new one ?

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks

You have to go to the DLT, not the land office.

Go to the police first and report the green book as lost. Take the paper they give you and go to the DLT to request a new book. Bring passport and bike. Not sure if you need a certificate of residence or not, requirements vary a bit from office to office. Some also don't need the police report but better get one.

Recommended to have someone who can speak Thai with you to make things easier.

Yeah as always good to keep a copy of the green bike book which you should have anyway with other stuff on the bike, then the problem can be solved without panic.

I've heard mixed reports but I would assume they are still working.

Yes you need the new book before you can renew the tax.

See Kwasaki's reply regarding fine. Don't worry.

1 baht a year.

If your DLT is not open then you may still be able to insure the bike online.

I thought you were winding me up with the 1 baht !!. Bikes insured  but still can't find the book or the copies, must have lost them when i applied for passport for bike before xmas

Dont have much luck with vehicle books, have 2 for the same car and none for the bike, same as i had with my licences, 2 for the car, none for the bike !

Thanks again everyone, much appreciated

I would first had a talk with your wife. Green books are popular to borrow money against. ????????????

How can you lose a green book. Mine goes in the safe and only comes out to retax the bike once a year.

Had to take it to DLT to get passport for bike. Not sure if i have dropped it somewhere, or mislaid it, but been through the house twice, still no luck

Do the police ever make you take out your tax paper from the round cylinder holder, so they can check it properly ?or do they just look at the year showing ?

Up country here, been stopped very rarely, and they have never asked for tax or insurance, just licence

1- she does not need the money

2- she knows the bike will be signed over to her, just like the other bike and the car,so no worries about her

if needed, she could get a lot more on the cars book rather than the bike, plus we have 2 books, so easy to do

But thanks anyway
