if this country had a climate of -5 to 5 degrees Celsius, not only would road deaths be higher than the already outrageous figures, but the country would have been decimated by this virus by now through their haphazard thinking and shoddy planning; not to mention the greedy intention of letting in tens of thousands of Chinese tourists throughout January and February

then Thailand wouldn't have 65 million citizens, no way they could have planned for winters, they are so lucky it is always warm here.....

I think at the end of the health and economic crisis there is enough material for an evening-filling comedy movie

no really worth worrying about is it, unless your wife, husband,  mother or father is one of the 1-2

Quite correct. A person died on the M5 on Jan 2nd 2020, did you worry about that fatality too?

They will have to sort things quickly.  The airports of Wuhan are open again.  Soon there will be hordes of Chinese trying to enter Pattaya.

And the Chinese expertise in "rapid" construction, not hospitals as in Wuhan, but CASINOS to bring in urgently needed cash!

..and before anyone says that they shouldn't be making up fatlity figures, I'm guessing that's what they're doing already.

Can you not see what is wrong with this statement?

You're guessing about them guessing!! A great way to get to the facts haha

No big deal! Mistakes happens. This is not a normal situation, and many of the persons planning this, is doing this for the first time and hopefully once in their life time. I am sure they will fix it and make it work. Everybody can make mistakes.

"Everybody can make mistakes". Quite true, but the person who never made a mistake, never made anything, and therein lies the problem.

When a good result is commensurate with thoughtful planning, and a disaster with little or none, this was to be expected.

What's really needed is more pompous flatulence. Thanks for your contribution.

Imbeciles should be recognized formally at an annual nation-wide awards event and be presented with a statuette, like at the Oscars. Broadcast the event live on television to face/name-shame the winners and runners-up.

Hold my beer....

Better hang onto it yourself - in case they decide to ban liquor sales as well !

Besides, "Hold my som tam" may be more appropriate !

Except they continue to make same predictable mistakes time after time in whatever field, never learning. There appears to be a genetic deficiency of foresight. This stems back to officials not being in their position through merit, but by nepotism or corruption.

Maybe they could have used the tolls to check paperwork? The amount of traffic would have still been the same though and I realise the idea was to control a smaller zone which I thought was a bit hopeful anyway. Widen the area of movement, less cops required and less traffic over a wider area due to people staying in their own areas??

Like in almost every other country them. Just that it´s more out in the open here and visible to the naked eye.

the most relevant method of ensuring that traffic kept moving quickly; is to situate Red Traffic lights all along the road

Who do you want him to blame for things that go wrong in Thailand? Bolivia?

When did I post anything about that? I just made it clear that no other government will pay relief for lost work if it was not a registered income either. Basically saying that Thailand is not doing wrong compared to other nations or, if you wish, that almost all countries would do the same.

But why are all those private cars on the road anyway ?

Exactly !! You shouldn’t be out driving around unless you have a special delivery / doctor/ frontline worker authorization !!! Why can’t the people understand ?
