Europe already talks about cautious 'opening up' so provided that goes well, my prediction is we may see limited routes opening late May early June - most likely checks at airports for a while or medical certificate maybe required

That is of course if the possible secondary wave does not appear

I think it will be phased and vary by point of origin with flights from countries where the epidemic resolves earlier allowed in first.

I doubt there will be a complete opening to all flights before July  if then.

Makes sense. Step by step. Lowest risk first. Opening up some time in May, but completely a few months later.

Restaurants won't even be open by the end of the month why should they start letting flights here? And the responsible thing is to have every passenger show a recent negative test prior to boarding.

I think it should be July or August only restricted countries.

Personally, I would think  there will be improvements at the end of this month.

At least it would be nice to see International flight start to resume and thereby International mail services re-opened.

Just got mail from Hong Kong via Speedpost - 6 days.

Yeah, I was referring more to dispatching, not receiving.

As dispatching is currently suspended at PO other than snail mail.(surface)

I go with you. I f the trend in lesser infections are still in the game. t will probably also depend on the destination, because they will not start fly to countries with high level of infections.

My retirement extension is due for renewal in January - I seriously doubt at this point I will make that date and will have to start again later next year.

Base that on the following.

1. You cannot easily get a test in the UK or a doctors note that Thailand will require.

2. They will not open the uk lockdown until atleast mid May earliest - say maybe June.

3. UK will end isolation for 5-6 weeks. Travel ban due to close proximity

4. Wave 2. hits (medium size)

5. 2nd Lockdown July/August weeks.

6. Release from 2nd lockdown Travel ban due to close proximity

7. Wave 3 hits September. (smaller size)

8. 3rd Lockdown October/November.

9. Isolation ends , released for X-mas Travel ban due to close proximity

10. Wave 4 hits, January (very small)

11. Lockdown for 1 month.

12 Isolation ends Travel ban due to close proximity

13. Travel ban lifted end Feb/March.

Hope I'm wrong - want back with my wife and daughter - but I seriously feel this year will be a wipeout

Fella nothing is going to be open in Thailand whatsoever until Covid is eradicated worldwide and a vaccine up and running. Nobody is going anywhere this year start thinking for yourself as to the reason why

End of this month? Very unlikely considering the worsening situation in Europe and USA.

It all depends on when will the situation in Europe/USA improve. Probably in June.

I agree we are unlikely to see flights from Europe & US before June at the soonest.

But they might open to other flights before then.

I suspect land borders will open first though might initially be restricted to nationals of Thailand & neighboring countries.

If my very empty mailbox is any indication receiving is equally down.

Speedpost is a courier, several couriers are still operating internationally.  But not regular post from most countries to & from here.\

Do people bother to check facts before posting?

Swapmy never closed & a flight from Shanghai landed 45 mins ago.

Qatar running flights & there are flights to europe running as well.

EVA runs a direct flight to London but I don't think it's daily.

Yes, BKK has had flights every day since the so called closure.

Other airlines have also loaded inventory even if not available for purchase yet.  I can see BKK pencilled in for 1st May on one at least.  Entry restrictions will be a bigger issue than availability IMO, as a lot of folk won't want to leave if they're unsure when they'll get back, and most won't come if they face quarantine.
