I really hope the thai goverment and immigration appreciate what farlangs are doing for helping the thais with free food in places like pattaya giving free  food and helping the worse off

Sorry for the laugh Phil, but Thai immigration / government taking anything into account?

Nah!

And I would be delighted to be proven wrong!

I tend to agree with you but i really do hope they can appreciate us farlangs and startto make things easy for us when we deal with  immigration  in the future. Everyone can change even the thai goverment when we deal with them

It is pleasant to see that there are many places run by Thais and farangs alike providing sustenance to those in dire straits and I take my hat off to all of them. I am lobbing in what I can and only wish that the authorities who should be in the front line of such efforts did something, but are only seeming to become visible to shut such efforts down rather than help.

Don't expect immigration to do us any favours later. And don't hold your breath waiting for that racist fool Anutin to thank us either.

What have you personally done?

Maybe, but nor farlong. In normal times their mere voluntary participation in handling food giveaways would be grounds for

"You hab work permit?"

Someone with a bit of internet savvy should start a facebook or twitter or youtube channel etc page showing all the locations news stories photos etc where westerners have come to the aid of Thais and helped to feed them.

The page could be forwarded to immigration offices and TAT etc etc to ministry of foreign affairs etc.

But i forget 10% of Issan families are already supported by farangs and what appreciation do immigration show, an ever changing obstacle course of inane pedantic rules and regulations that belong in the middle ages.

Problem being the damage done already in the implication that it is westerners responsible for Covid 19, rather than a policy of welcoming the Covid 19 host country to Thailand for so long unrestricted.

Also educating the populace with facts my well be considered libellous under the law if it demonstrates a negligence by third parties.

If anything, op, it will irk them because it makes them look inept; ergo expect harsher treatment. :whistling:

and you?

I pay loads of taxes but I don't need special favors. I also don't want to be associated by the "us farangs vs Thais" mentality.

You won't see any immigration officers queuing for free food and I doubt they are even aware of what's going on...no chance of any leniency or changes I'm afraid...

Give a Thai a whistle and fluorescent jacket they have a power trip...immigration offices and airports are the same with that uniform.....it won't ever change.
