Printers

Featured Replies

I searched the forums for printer info and the only entry was for the  Chaing Mai area , so I hope this post will be for all .

I have a Brother mfc -j220 printer at least 5 years old & up , given by wife's school teacher sister so probably had a lot of use . It has always played up with the quality and has been to the repair shop 3 times because of ink blockages . So I am looking to replace it with an all in model i.e. printer , copier , scanner . Can anyone recommend a budget printer that is reliable for basic black & white printing that does not clog up if not used for a few days or is the answer a laser ?

I am also aware of ink cartridge costs that can be more than the price of a cheap printer .

If you do not have need for color then laser is probably your best choice.  Although cheap Canon and such ink jets should not clog up in only a few days and if not much printing are fine.

I have a budget HP wireless printer, cartridges are 300 baht and its been faultless.

Some like the "Tank" printers, but its horses for courses, depends on how often you use it and quantity printed etc. Personally I find the tanks messy and clog up a lot and dumped mine in favor of the cartridge system. Each to their own experience.

Mate,

You can get 'refillable' printers now, I have a Brother DCP-T500W, all in one colour printer/scanner. Fantastic. As long as you leave the power on it will cycle through maybe once a day to ensure the ink does not dry out and block. Have had mine for a couple fo years now with long stints not using whilst back home and never misses a beat.

I think any cheap printer will suit your purposes, because the technology has progressed in leaps and bounds in the last few years.

Go for the cheapest is my opinion, based on your (almost non-existent) use.

Thanks AtlasAus ,

That sounds good especially in hot climates in rooms without air con , is that feature common to most modern printers ? What costs are the ink refills ?

I dont know to be honest, but it has never been an issue in the time I have had and used mine, come to think of it, on any cartridge system I have owned.
