david2923 Posted April 28, 2020 Posted April 28, 2020 I was wondering if anyone knows if the Thailand drivers license's office is open or close due to C-19? <snip>

Expired license is good until 15 days after the state of emergency is lifted or separate announcement. State of emergency now extended until 31 May. Don't ask me how they want to catch up on the backlog after reopening. Edited April 29, 2020 by KhunBENQ 1

You'll end up in the monkey house. 5

Drivers License online. Good for 51 countries. From the US Federal Trade Commission: Quote IDP Scams Individuals or companies not authorized to issue IDPs sell fakes on websites, through unsolicited email, and in person for prices ranging from $60 to $400. If you buy a fake IDP, not only will you be paying for a worthless document, but you also could face legal problems or travel delays if you’re detained for using it to drive in a foreign country. As mentioned in the other posts, your so called 10 year license is invalid and worthless. Under the UN convention, an International Driving Permit (IDP) is accepted when accompanied with your Government issued driving license by those countries signing on to the convention, which includes Thailand. These IDPs are issued in the country where your Government license is issued and only by organizations authorized by that Government - in USA it is the American Automobile Association (AAA) - for holders of Thai driving license, it is the Dept of Land Transport. IDPs usually have a one year validity period. Further, it is my understanding that it can be used in Thailand for no longer than a 90 day period as anyone staying longer than that is required to have a Thai driving license. 3 4

phetchy Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 Anyone know the latest on car tax at Banglamung Land Transport at the Regent School? I've heard various versions as time goes on - the latest being that the Tax renewal office and blue/green book changes section is still open but no licences until next month. Can anyone confirm please?

Can anyone confirm please? Not Banglamung specific, but correct from all news reports, website and misc threads. Offices not closed but all driving license issues suspended until 31 May (or further notice). True for our office. A mate paid his tax just two days ago and the usual applies: have identification with you, wear mask, register at the entry and get a queue number. Enter after being called and having temperature checked, cleaned hands. Edited May 9, 2020 by KhunBENQ 1

I am not looking forward to that experience. They could stagger it by alphabetically calling forward people by last name, but they won't of course, so risking more virus infection. Ah well, grin and carry on I guess.
