A contingent of thirty police and local government officials descended on the Hat Mae Yang waterfall near the Lam Pao dam in Kalasin yesterday after complaints that a large number of people were flouting the Covid-19 regulations.

Tourists scattered in all directions as the police descended on the site where the visitors were playing in the water, eating and drinking. There were families, men, women and children.

Many young people fled on motorcycles; others packed up their mats and belongings and headed off fearing arrest.

No arrests were made - people were just warned not to congregate.

Local officials said they would erect signage so that people did not congregate in the area and risk spreading the virus.

Manager called the people crazy in their headline.

The tourists appeared to be Thai.

What sort of deterrent is that?  I know, just punish everybody else who is abiding by the regulations.

The tourists appeared to be Thai and no arrests were made, because Johnny Foreigner falangs weren’t here.

Because most of the so called "tourists" seems to be Thai citizens. Makes one wonder if it would have been french people, would they have asked for 50k baht in bail money then?

IMO they should have been booked like everyone else.

"Crazy"tourists instead of more correct term: crazy Thai citizens on vacation.

Those who only read the headline will think 'those damn dirty farangs again'

If there had been any foreigners the Headline would have been "Crazy foreigners scatter...."

Just like this one:

Quote

Koh Phangan: Cops bust seven Russians flouting virus regulations at "ganja" party

It doesn't say "Cops bust seven people.."

Don't worry brother. The russians will keep us entertained, keeping alive the reputation about us foreigners. Always a new drug sex party somewhere.

Next week, some foreigners who sat down on the beach again, will fill the headlines. Then another attempt murder / murder.

Then foreigner jump from high floor condo. Rinse and repeat.

Enjoy the headlines, and guess the actual content, before reading the full article.

Looks like they left a mess on the ground and didn't pick up after themselves.... what a surprise

It's not their fault, they don't know any better. Mommy forgot to tell them.

This is the silly, "easy" stuff.

Sometime during those two years we may find/have to acknowledge that we are in a 1945 style "Year Zero".

COVID is not "licked" yet.

And a new one can come along.

In an era when "vectors" have become more significant that the disease they carry.

Vectors = Millions of tourists (you know who) who did not have the opportunity to carry, worldwide, in the days of SARS.

Families in a wide open space, compare that to MRT, shopping, restaurants, queuing for food assistance, bank 5k or visa queues.  Glad no arrests were made.

Were the thirty police and government officials all two metres apart?

Tourists? In Kalasin? More like locals out for a picnic.

So it required 30 police plus local officials just to tell these folk "not to congregate" !!

Maybe too blinkin’ poor to pay a fine ?

Yup, must have been Thai tourists, as no arrest, no one with money.

but, but, but, what about the social distancing? Or did they use a rubber tape measure to determine it?

It's gotten to the point that if people are having fun then they are spreading the 'virus'. They are now providing information that the virus spreads more easily indoors.
