PHUKET: A 69-year-old Australian who worked as a hotel general manager in Khao Lak has become Phuket’s third fatality directly related to being infected with COVID-19, officials reported today (May 6).

The Phuket Communicable Disease Committee announced the man’s death in a report issued this morning.

The report gave only limited information about the man, reporting only the same information initially reported when the man was confirmed as infected on Mar 31.

Is Khao Lak in Phuket now then?

Who cares and, what a trivial post. What did stand out is that in the story (if you are bothered to read it) is this ...."He had a chronic lung disease". He was already in poor health prior to infection.

Not at all trivial when you are under lock down in Phuket and there is a possibility that this may be extended if further cases are confirmed here. Khao Lak is on the mainland 80 kms from Phuket.

OMG! That's three already. Time to lock down the bridge, close the beaches and put everyone under house arrest! ????

If that was meant to be sarcasm .... think. Beaches already closed. Bridge under strict flow control. But hey ... no house arrest.

Not under lockdown. He was on Phuket before being diagnosed, same as some others who were diagnosed at the airport.

Not really strange IMHO.

I read ian007's post as a sarcastic reference to the fact that many deaths are being attributed to COVID-19 that would have previously been attributed to a patient's pre-existing condition. I believe that many deaths are being reported as COVID-19 deaths when in reality, the COD is actually a patient's pre-existing (and in some cases terminal) condition, for which COVID-19 may or may not have been a contributing factor.

yes he did have health issues which he battled bravely to the end. If you must post, have some respect, he was a friend of mine. RIP mate
