Ridiculous to suggest that any tourists, rich, or not so rich from Europe, USA, GB, China, Indonesia, etc

should be visiting Thailand in the next 3 months.

To do so will hurt his empire more in the long run

i am so amazed how Thai business people urge the governement to start the economy again. No politics, no insults, no shouting contest. Just a sober factual plea. 

What a big difference with America where loudmouth busines moguls like Musk twitterscream and rant against lockdown measurements with hyperbolic language using words like FASCIST .

whatever the reasons are for the low infection/death rate in thailand is, a major part of it is not letting people from countries where the inf rate is much higher in.

 

the current new cases are reported to be from thais coming back from other countries.

 

the current inf rate here will allow for the thai economy to be fully re-opened asap.

 

allowing tourists from outside of thailand should be the last thing that happens, and not for quite a while.

I wouldn't bank on hordes of cheap Chinese tourists, they are being encouraged to holiday in China and boost the local economy. Plus will they allow them out and having to quarantine for 14 days when they are back.

Thailand had too  many problems already to attract rich or quality tourists. Everything you went to Thailand for has been ruined, the beaches are filthy, the water is full of waste of the worst kind, the air is polluted most of the year. Rich and quality tourists take taxis too, with the death toll at over 20 000 a year , who feels safe on the roads today ? They also eat, maybe the 4/5 stars are better, but your average Thai food is full of MSG and sugar , and the hygiene is appalling ! Stinking drains, no pavements, roads  in a terrible state, the government has been pocketing the tourist dollars for years, and the country is falling apart for lack of upkeep and improvements. The government and TAT should go to some countries that have a healthy tourist trade and take a long look.

Some of the things happening is just crazy, the WHO has already said this virus might not go away. Surely it's better to let things open up and see how it goes, limited numbers. I'm starting to think Thailand wants 0 cases in the country, so that will be tourism finished.

Often wonder what the concept of a five star hotel is or is not.

For me it is little things like 15 minutes after checking in to a 5 star here there is no need to call reception to let them know the mini-bar isn't working or the light in the bathroom isn't working or the aircon unit is dripping water etc etc.

Rich or very rich tourists can't handle things like that. They want everything perfect when they check in.

If they want breakfast at 2pm they expect breakfast at 2pm.

Telling them the 'breakfast chef' has gone home at 1pm doesn't work.

I doubt they will be coming either. Backpackers and sex tourists was Thailand's bread and butter, most of them have gone elsewhere now with the strong baht.

But could be near an infected person and breathin the droplets in Thailand too - at the airport, the taxi driver etc etc.  No system is perfect.  But a COVID19 neg test at least will dramatically reduce the risk.  Of course there is a risk of someone becoming infected in the interim period of test result and arrival into a country, hence a non-detectable incubation period.  No system is perfect.  You carry out risk mitigation, not elimination - because that it impossible.  How else do you restart travel?  COVID19 may never have a vaccine.  We cannot shut borders indefinitely.  You can be rest assure that every government worldwide knows there are risks.  The covid19 neg result needs to be within 72 hours of arrival (if referring to what it was just before borders shut).  

Most likely reality moving forward is that COVID19 is here to stay and all that can be done is contact tracing - if within 5 days that patient's movements are back tracked and establish source.  Clusters are pretty easy to establish with people all getting it in a location.  Shutdowns here and there at times will happen.  Social distancing will be the norm for a few years.  If a vaccine comes along then all that changes.  Otherwise this is the new norm.  COVID19 is too widespread everywhere to be contained anymore.

That is true to a certain extent, however in this day and age Thailand is also known for corruption, scams, pollution, xenophobia, dual pricing, high prices for sub - standard services, shocking health and safety standards, bizarre government rules that change at any time etc.

 

His aims are good, but something like this is just not going to happen. 

In this trying time, I would say any action is better than no action, regardless of the motive or outcome.  Normal (what is that?) people need to get back to work, not only in Thailand, but around the world.  This whole hoax is a shame and China, Bill Gates, and George Soros need to be brought to task for their involvement in this horrific pandemic.

Do you know who colinneil is? Do you? Just joking but try to simmer down a bit. There is no huge love for CP or its master. I'm sort of sad to say that being an American this clown owns 7-11 Thailand. He looks way to Chinese in that photo.

Keen is correct but most tour operators do not know how to do high end private tours and experiences away from the normal tourist crowds. Our tour operation has been bringing high end visitors to Thailand for more than 25 years. The months of November of this year through Feb. of next years is already almost fully booked with deposits paid. Our refund fund policy is no refund in all our part for the 20% deposit they pay however they do have 1 year to reschedule their tour with us at no extra charges should they need to cancel..

I think that you may find that Dhanin and his group of rich business friends have far more unspoken power and influence in Thailand than any rich businessmen do in the USA. Musk also has to answer to a board of directors and the shareholders for what he says and wants to do.

 

Dhanin OTOH is the power behind the throne as the saying goes. He has far more influence and power than Prayuth will ever have.
