Monday 18 May 2020 entering Rimping was greeted with use your phone to scan QR before letting you in to shop for food ,no phone just write name and phone #. fine but people are now queuing without keep a distance from each other seems to me it defeats the whole purpose , also what has changed since the last 3 weeks going into the same shop. The morons in charge have thought this thoroughly have`nt they not. Now went to the post office nothing no social distancing nix narda  nothing  except a plastic  sheet between  customer and  person dealing with customers.

Big C, (near the airport) was also doing the same this morning. And some of the banks and shops inside required you to do it again in order to enter their own premises. It was disorganized chaos. Little or no social distancing and most people hadn't a clue as to what they were supposed to be doing. And for what purpose does it actually serve? Is there now a way of checking if someone is infected purely by logging their name and phone number?

For weeks now Big C Hangdong has been checking temps and placing a sticker on your shirt when entering. What good does the sticker do if it falls off almost immediately after you enter? Job security for the cleaning crew?

What puzzled me is the fact that everyone was touching and using the same pen.

Simple.

It should be an adult responsibility to have hand sanitizer and spray before and after use.

Why would if be needed before, seems like overkill.

The New Way is the question.

The Highway is the answer.

Either go and accept what they are doing/trying to do, or stay home.

Everyone has a choice.

Consideration for the next person.

To make sure your hands are clean before you touch it.  If everyone did so, that pen you are so concerned about would remain clean.

Sorry I guess I didn't realize you have stock in a santitizer company.....  Like I said....overkill, as well as holding up the queue.

and if they didn't do this  farce there would be no need to touch the stupid pen in the first place.

Dooooh, it is done AFTER customer No. 1 which is inevitably BEFORE customer No. 2.

Though I don't like the intrusion into my privacy the contact tracing requires I know this is already happening behind the scenes with Google and various social media channels, GPS and Bluetooth. I understand the intent it is the execution I dislike. Ironically the contact tracing is making social distancing HARDER, lines LONGER and INCREASING all of our risk as well as making shopping a pain in the azz and me want to spend MUCH less money. This is SNAFU city.

What app is this?
At BigC this morning they had girls holding big QR codes, but how is it used? Do you have to install an app? I didn't see them scanning a phone QR code, which would have made more sense. I don't carry a phone, so they said to sign-in. Is someone going to type the illegible scrawlings into a database? They already know when you are there from the BigC card, assuming you buy something.

Before there were known cases of COVID - now there are none.

It's crazy, it won't last.. They're making the situation much worse.

If there's an outbreak or a new cluster some time in the future that is linked with a certain branch of Big C, then they can trawl the phone's that QR coded or trawl the names and numbers in the visitors books for the entries on the date where the infected person confirmed they were in that particular Big C and bam-pow-splat!... there's your contact tracing.

Of course Mickey Mouse at 1234567890 will miss all the fun.

If there is any truth to the numbers Thailand has gotten new cases to virtually zero WITHOUT this app. So why is it necessary now when the crisis is OVER?

Because the WuFlu is out there in the wild and like all other flu's, it will be a recurring event... forever. The Korean government's chief medical advisor reckons there will be a heavier second wave in the Fall, autumn or Q4.

The real crisis hasn't happened yet and it appears more by luck than anything else, the humans have managed to get to the end of the first round bell and are still (mostly) on their feet.

The ten extra seconds you wait in the queue for someone to spray their hands might just save some elderly person's life. How about we think about them instead of just about how inconvenienced we are?

This isn't about 'you.'  It's about all of us.

Ten seconds, surely you jest or perhaps you haven't seen Thais in a queue before.

Example: At Makro, Thai checking out. Cashier scans all items prints out receipt and then the Thai finally digs into purse, fumbles for wallet, flips thru all the bills, hands the bills to the cashier, and then fumbles for that last satang to complete the payment. Or even upon entering the area to the cashier, now fumbles into wallet or purse to find that membership card.

It must be difficult to be so important that you can't wait, be it 10 seconds or three minutes. Do you always insist that everyone follow your timetable?

If there is one thing that this Corona Virus problem has brought into the spotlight, it's the incredible selfishness of some people, who think the world must conform to their agenda.

The government already knows my name, my address, my phone number, and even has my fingerprints. If they want me for something, they know how to find me. I'm not concerned with letting them  know that I was in Rimping at a certain day and time.

If someone who was there at the same time as me becomes sick, this is a great way to warn and isolate potential infections, and limit the spread.  It should have been done all along.

But I am concerned with the possibility of a data breach on my phone. I think it's time to have a second phone just for shopping, without any bank info or other personal information in it. Phones are cheap enough these days to make this feasible.

I agree with your post. The problem I have is, I refuse to carry a phone that doesn't easily fit in my pocket. I have a 3G flip phone that I ordered on Amazon, I found it with the search "rugged flip phone". I have no problem with writing down my information and the time, I have nothing to hide. When my wife is with me she has her tablet (that she has to carry in a backpack) and the checker says that's fine for both of us. When the time comes that a small phone that can't scan isn't good enough, I won't have one at all. I never had a cell phone before I came here, old dogs and new tricks etc.

Just avoid shops that practise this cr@p.  Hopefully, they'll give up.  Temperature checks, can keep.

Exactly.

Comply or stay away.

If your "privacy" is so very important, find an alternative place to shop.

And of course accept the limited selection of goods your principles have made available to you.
