Nine Thais arrived back from London with high fever on Monday (May 18), while three more from Singapore have been placed under investigation for Covid-19.

Kittiphong Kittikhajorn, deputy director of operations at Suvarnabhumi Airport, said on Tuesday (May 19) that airport staff screened passengers who arrived on EVA Air flight BR068 from London yesterday. “Out of 264 passengers, nine had high fevers and were rushed to hospital immediately,” he said.

“The rest were transported to government-designated quarantine facilities, which include Jomtien Palm Beach Hotel in Chonburi, and Movenpick Hotel and Qiu Hotel in Bangkok.”

The UK has the highest incidence of Covid-19 in Europe, with 246,406 confirmed cases and 34,796 deaths as of Tuesday.

On Monday evening, another 130 Thais returned from Singapore aboard Singapore Airlines flight SQ976.

“Staff separated three passengers from the rest, as they displayed coronavirus-like symptoms, and sent them to hospital for investigation,” said Kittiphong. “The rest were transported to the Ambassador Jomtien Hotel to complete the mandatory 14-day quarantine.”

The screening and transportation of passengers were carried out by airport staff, Department of Disease Control officials and police from local stations in Samut Prakan province. Region 1 police chief Pol Lt Gen Amphol Buarabporn also visited the airport on Monday to oversee the process and offer moral support as well as supplies to officials on duty.

Then how did they get their "Fit to Fly" certificates?

That's why in places like Jilin fever medication cannot be bought anymore.

Maybe my tea I ordered in the Uk at the end of March will be one of these flights,or if I remember right? BA is the carrier of UK post, and they will not be flying here for a while yet, and I asked at my local post office today about sending a letter to the UK ,the girl said no flights, sea routes only.

Will entire aircraft crew also be quaranteed, excusing pilots maybe?

Nine rushed to the hospital immediately - more potential exposures reroute beginning with escorts through airport, immigration, baggage claim, transportation, registration, etc. This could add significantly to the contact tracing efforts....if taken seriously.

The other 255 passengers are free to roam? Or Told to stay home for 14 days?

If those nine are sick from Covid19 , and 12 hours packed together with 255 others.

Don't you think the virus wouldn't jump over?

Same for the air crew.

That's why the rest of the passengers are placed in Quarantine at a facility the government has designated.

No actual commercial flights are inbound, this although listed as a commercial flight, is a repatriation flight.

I'd vote to keep them out just because they cause imported food shortages at FoodLand....damn those French buying up all the good bread.

Cases are so low in Thailand, they must import them to be able to justify the continued idiotic closures.

By this article it looks like the Pattaya area got the majority of these returnees. Think I will stay away from the closed beaches for at least 14 days from the last Thai returnee flights.
