we don't believe biometrics will have to be done again.

Do not be so sure, my wife has had many Aus visas, but in March a new application was refused and we had the biometrics done

we had to reapply two weeks later as we had a cruise booked, she was required to pay the fee again, and do biometrics again, this time she was given a three year visa

no Logic

Am aware but last I read it was $3000 per couple + $500 per child ( my situation mother & 1 child 12yrs old )

* Have obtained Auss Citz for son & he should get his Auss PP come October

Will now have to cancel Visa app sitting in limbo in Auss Immi department

* Now wife - Will also have to cancel (due to the 3605 on it ) & apply for Normal TV (with special exemption ) - So she can apply for PR (she should get full PR after 2 yrs since together a long time )

* I will get agent involved ( in auss ) who I had been told would cost $1500 for PR

 So looking at

* plane costs (if can get ) - Would be looking at Repat one way direct flights (dont want to see them dumped of a last leg )

* Quarantine

* PR application

Maybe $20,000

PS: has anyone done Auss PR & posted on here (tried search engine)

Just looking for advice & documents (where to get in Thailand ) of any that cant be got at Thai Auss embassy

IE: work history (non taxable )/ Schooling

Thanks all in advance

Hi BEVUP

I will try and answer your questions and clear up some confusion and help other readers.

Your son's passport can be ready much faster if needed, and he can always travel on an emergency passport. You need to withdraw his application, not cancel it, and this can be done in the Immi account.

For your wife, I am assuming you mean she has an 8503 NO FURTHER STAY (and not a 3605 as stated) on her subclass 600 tourist visa? Again, no need to cancel, a new visa grant will do that automatically. However this would not guarantee this not being applied again, although with Covid-19 if the new visa is granted it is unlikely. The other alternative is to seek an 8503 waiver when she is in Australia due to Covid (not guaranteed so a Plan B if the new visa has the same condition).

I am not sure what you mean by "with special exemption".

Also I am a bit confused about applying for PR as to what you mean. You apply for a specific visa type, and PR is a result of the visa conditions/grant - so you need to decide what visa subclass you are applying for.

If the sole aim is to lodge a visa application in Australian to gain PR while on a tourist visa technically that is a breach of the visa conditions so I would advise caution in preparing your application.

As I have said in my main article at the start of this thread - I am happy to do a free consultation to anyone with questions.

It is very important to get things right, and as you highlight the right documents before your leave as it will save a lot of time and expense.

Also I can give you an accurate update on flights, latest information etc to make this much easier.

Currently VFS is closed, so biometrics for Australia are not possible.

As such the embassy has been waiving the requirement in cases where they meet certain criteria. If you have previously done them and would qualify for a visa grant this will almost definitely be the case.

spornb your case is before this so a different situation.

The logic is quite simple, many people have used other people's passports to try and get visas after they have been refused themselves. While you may never have considered something so stupid many people have tried this and the biometrics is a way of making sure this does not happen.

Special exemption - The only persons on TV that are allowed in will be immediate family of an Auss citz/ect with the need of Special Exemption

get a TV without 8503 (I know they can still add ) which would allow an extension ( apply for PR once in Auss ) - At the moment she is (pending ) applied for Family Sponsor

As far as I know

..... and that's the RUB!!

I just came back to Oz last November ... for a 3-4 months stay, before I would have returned to my place in LOS ...... and then - Covid 19 interfered with my plans - and "lucky Dogs" like yourself are being STUCK there - and able to continue to live-it-up,  "unlucky Dogs" like myself are being STUCK here - with NOWHERE to go!! ???????????? ...... while my Retirement Visa in LOS expires .....

I was one of the lucky ones, flew from Melbourne to Bangkok about two weeks before all the shutters came down. I've now transferred enough funds to last me for at least 18 months.

My golfing friends back in Melbourne are fuming, I'm playing golf three times a week, while the memberships they are paying $2000 - $4000 pa for are useless.

IMO the Thai government could gather itself a lot of kudos and PR goodwill if they allowed retirement extensions to be done through their various embassies and consulates, for people stranded out of Thailand.

Hi BEVUP, please call me - I have sent you a PM.

By applying for the Family Sponsored stream that will have an 8503 and will cause you serious issues. It also takes much longer to process, and if they do ask for a bond (although unlikely), you would likely instantly forfeit that when you apply for a further onshore visa.
