Passenger charged double for "social distancing" bus ticket - then the bus is full!

A furious daughter of a woman who travelled by bus from Khon Kaen to Hua Hin said on Facebook that her mother was charged double for the fare.

But despite this being illegal, insult was then added to injury.

Her mum had to travel in a full bus without any attempt at social distancing as promised.

Sanook said she paid 1,300 baht and was told there would be gaps.

Daughter "Mai Siri Thammakij" said on Facebook that it was "terrible" - it was bad enough trying to find money in these difficult times without having to face disreputable practices like this. She called on the authorities to act.

In other unclear posts Thaivisa notes that it was claimed that the bus company - named as Charn Tour - would be or had been fined 10,000 baht for overcharging.

A couple of weeks ago another bus company was fined 10,000 baht for charging double - but on that occasion social distancing was followed with spaces between passengers.

way too low; disreputable companies would laugh at this ; they might make that much extra in a day by overcharging

It's called "Double Bubble".......????

When I was a mini cab driver, way back when, on Christmas and New Year Hours we charged double, it was called Double Bubble.............????...............????

I guess you can find out how many seats are actually on the bus and then ask how many are sold. Then you can make up your own mind whether to travel.

You'll be lucky for that to work......................????

Of course one should have to pay for the empty seat adjacent to the one they have just paid for. This is Thailand, the country you can trust ????

What no seats in the gangway, that bus isn't full!

No surprise to here that the bus company is Chan Tour which is the worst bus company to take in Thailand. I used to take their Pattaya to Kalasin bus, They never maintain the buses, old, smelly, air con dont work, the bus always brakes down on the highway, very rude workers who are ripping people off by charging you 50 bht per bag that they store for you.

Absolutely horrible bus company and the best part is that they charge more then any other bus from Pattaya and Bangkok to Issan as they keep putting the fairs up every few months. I really hope they get fined heavily.

A 10.000 Thb fine is ridiculous.

Let's say this is a 36 (could also be 48) seater bus, being filled with passengers paying double fare 1.300 Thb.

That means the extra profit is 23.400Thb......

So why would any bus company be scared of breaking the rules?

ripped off!

 - there should have been enough space, to be dancing in the aisle...

They dont care, time to make up for loss of earnings due to covid. The customer is at the bottom of the list to them.

I guess with foreign travelers not here in sufficient numbers to make a dishonest living Thai operators now have to "double charge" the locals.

Suck it up and pay-up.... wait til they charge you 10X at national parks then you can gripe!

Som nam na !

Now you know how we feel..........not nice is it..........but it must be fake news as I still remember a Government official last year saying Thai would Never rip off another Thai..........
