Hello US Expats. Now, that the Police-Force has been declared as the "Enemy of the People", you being away from the US and looking at the happenings back home from a distance, what do you think would happen back home if the Police and the National-Guard would go on a holiday for 1 week?

I suppose we could look at the high rent district of Seattle called Capitol Hill which has been partially taken over, barricaded (With armed protestors patrolling the entry points) and has a rapper (warlord?) running the show.

They have declared it to be the “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone” and has signs upon entry stating that “you are now leaving the USA”.

Why not let them have it?  Let them secede from the US and have their own country.  Perhaps they can join NAFTA and trade homemade hacky sacks for all the necessities of life.

Lets see how that works out for them.

That must be like one of those no-go cities/areas Fox News said exist in the UK. DailyMail too ...

It's far from neutral.

False or neutral, nevermind. Let's not turn this into some linguistic academic Hokus-Pokus!

The question is simple and remains:

Once the Cop's and the National Guard would stay home, sipping Budweiser on the sofa and watch the world go by, what would happen during this time in the US in your opinion? A legitimate question for all US Citizens, living abroad, I find.

Jing, no reason for you not to participate in this little poll. Speak freely. Voice your opinion as far as this issue is concerned. Will talk about "premises" on an other occasion.

Premises are the result of 2+2 = 4. Not 3 and not 5. Cheers.

It's what's needed for the all the elected people who are buckling under the protestors to grow some balls. I don't know about a week maybe too long, lets start with 24 hrs.

No one is suggesting eliminating all police, so that's a straw man argument.

Defunding means reducing the budget.  Camden, NJ, did eliminate their police department, but they contract for policing services with the county government, an experiment that has reduced both homicides and police violence, by the way.

What we can all notice is that as soon as police were no longer enforcing curfews, the protests became completely peaceful once again.  So, the violence emanated from the police.

Makes sense. They were all holding hands and singing and chanting. And then the police showed up causing these otherwise gentle folk to turn instantly to looting and burning. Which went on for days. When the police gave up finally and left, they stopped looting and burning and returned once more to their songs and clapping. And when they saw the police weren't coming back they declared their independence from the USA.

And everyone lived happily ever after.
