Sareeya Boonmak, director of TAT’s Ratchaburi office

Visitors to Ratchaburi are experiencing the “new normal” as the province’s world-famous attractions reopen after lockdown.

Social distancing and other safety measures are operating at Damnoen Saduak floating market and Kao Chon waterfall (Khao Jones), part of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT)’s campaign to boost confidence among tourists.

Visitors are expected to flock back to the province, 100 kilometres west of Bangkok, when discounts under the government’s tourism stimulus scheme launch next month.

"Ratchaburi has implemented the new ‘Amazing Thailand Safety & Health Administration’ measures of taking visitors' temperatures, providing sanitising gels, social distancing, and installing air purifiers [at some attractions]," said Sareeya Boonmak, director of TAT’s Ratchaburi office.

Meanwhile tourists could request information quickly via the Line app from the new @TATratchaburi account, in addition to the usual phone and Facebook page services.

"Right now, many tourists are asking for information about the Nine Waterfall or Khao Jones in Suan Phung district. We can assure them that Ratchaburi attractions and hotels are now open," she said.

"In addition, hotels and tourists attractions have implemented Covid-19 preventive measures to boost confidence among tourists."

She added that 45 regional TAT offices were ready to provide information for tourists every day from 8.30am to 4.30pm.

1 from 8.30am to 9.30pm every other Thursday would probably be enough

Ratchaburi is beautiful in June and July. The rest of the year it is famous for its burning sugar cane fields since a couple of years.

I was taken to Damnoen Saduak floating market by friends once after attending a wedding nearby... from the entrance restaurant/shopping area there are water taxi boats to take you up the canal to the end shop & back.. about a 5 minute ride each way.

I was asked to pay 500 baht.... so promptly got back out, much to the disgust of the boatman!
Following me were two foreign couples who I heard ask, how much.. the driver said 500 baht each, they too turned around !

Most tourists who stop at Ratchaburi are on their way to Kanchanaburi.

Only Chinese and Indians go there for the Floating Market, and then later return to Bangkok.

Seriously... Most tourists on package tours, either stop at Damnoen Saduak in Ratchaburi or go north to the big Chedi in Nakhon Pathom on their way to Kanchanaburi.

If you wanna go in a straight line to Kanchanaburi, you will not pass any tourist attractions on the way. And most tourists wanna be entertained, and not only see toilets at a gas station every 2,5 hours.
