Video: Family of four run for their lives as "gas powered" Honda bursts into flames

Police and fire services were called to Route 21 in Chaibadan district of Lopburi in central Thailand after a family car burst into flames on Monday night.

 

Firemen had the blaze under control in 20 minutes as traffic was directed around the blazing Honda City.

The owner of the car said that he was with his wife and two children. They had been at a mosque near the Assumption Convent school and were on their way back to Bangkok when he smelled smoke. 

 

He pulled over to the side of the road and ordered his wife and children to make a run for it.

He said that he had recently had the car adapted to run on natural gas and he feared that this was the reason for the blaze.

The video is worth watching. Traffic being directed past a blazing car and emergency workers stood around filming on their phones. 

Feel sorry for the Muslims just out of Quran tine.

There were four three or four car fires covered in the TV news today. It makes me wonder if any of these surprising car fires are connected to the bad economy. I remember in the past when times were bad there seemed to be a few businesses burning down every other day at that time. It just seems odd to have so many cars burning in one day.

I don;t drive but I know of this remarkable invention in the UK called the M.O.T.  - does Thailand not have similar and  if so, how much did the guy pay to get it through ? 

I wonder if the car is insured against fire , I bet its not insured against a gas conversion fire.

Sounds like drastic modification that might void insurance coverage...

Yep... another 1st class conversion.

If it were a hilux it would have driven away after that...
