Buriram: Policeman facing attempted murder charge after shooting at the neighbors over loud music

A senior sergeant major in Buriram in Thailand's north east fired at the son of a neighbor because he was annoyed by some loud music on Monday morning.

A shot - perhaps a warning shot - hit the front door of the house opposite to where the policeman lived.

Enraged, the father came out and confronted the policeman who then shot him with his service weapon in the groin and ribs.

The mid morning scene was completed as the daughter of the victim rushed out to find her father in a pool of blood. Sanook reported that she was screaming uncontrollably.

Rom, 51, was taken to hospital in a grievous condition by rescue services.

Sen Sgt Maj Chaiyong, 53, gave himself up and surrendered his weapon to the Krasang police where he works.

He is in custody charged with attempted murder.

Soi, 63, the mother of the shooting victim said that her grandson Itthiphon was playing loud music that enraged the cop who is their neighbor and lives opposite.

He either fired a warning shot or attempted to hit her grandson but the shot hit the front door.

Her son then came out and confronted the policeman.

Sanook reported that a fight developed between the victim and the neighbor after the victim had been shot.

In custody = manning the desk 8-am-5pm, then going back home to relax without any noisy neighbors.

I might hate loud music too, but the copper overreacted .. not just a little bit but extremely.

Never imagined Krasang to be like the Wild West......... usually quite peaceful by all accounts.

I thought it was the thai right to be as annoying as can be for attention.

My first question would be...Why was it that the Parents, who are in their 50-60's were also not annoyed by their Sons playing of loud music ?   My Parents would have pulled the plug if i had done that and not allowed me to bother them or the Neighbours.

Second question....Why didn't the Cop go and knock on the door and ask them to be sensible with the volume of the music rather than use his Gun to shoot at the front door ?   Personally i don't think the Cops should be taking home weapons capable of killing people when they could be handed in before leaving their place of work; hence, no Gun to shoot at anyone's doors !

my guess he's either asked them many times before without success or he's had a previous run inn's with them.

I would have thought a warning shot would be suffice to turn it down, apparently not .   lol

probably put on inactive post, police don't do time, "they" will find a solution that the unarmed neighbor will be charged with something

But Rob, who knows how long it has been going on. I can easily see how anyone could be pushed to the edge, and when that happens, we are all unreasonable.

I think it will happen more and more.. Thai people don't care about their neighbors if it about noise. open air karaoke bars and restaurants with singers will put the volume up late in the evening instead of lower the volume.. If the police should check more and people complain more things would go easier.. Maybe now more problems because it was so lovely quiet in the curfew.....

I have been pushed and annoyed by my neighbor but I would never ever think about violence. I think we are all different. Violence is one of the things that just does not come up with me. Shooting a gun is extremely stupid and violent.

If the cop isn't locked up for murder, it sets a precident for ALL cops having the right to go and shoot ALL neighbours they are upset with for music, dogs barking, drifting smoke or a loud bike, etc.

Can't see him being charged with attempted murder, (or even murder should the victim succumb to his injures). Maybe a lesser charge and payment to the family or a made up story about the victims being the aggressor and the cop acting in self-defence.

yep most of these  things would never  happen if people  had some respect for others, there are many times Id  liked to have shot someone as they were totally inconsiderate gits, fortunately I removed myself form town living but even out in the country there are still some seriously noisy inconsiderate bastards.

Many will say Thais  dont mind, I think its  untrue, they do  mind but are too afraid  to say.

I doubt there  will be any more loud  music from the neighbour now, of  course  2  lives ruined due to selfishness of  noisy neighbour.

You dont  know  how  long this  had been going on for and Ill bet it was not one or two occasions. Too many of these selfish pricks  in the world where there is  little  or  no  help available so  people end  up doing stuff  like this.

Many of these  types  when asked  nicely try even harder to be annoying, had it  in condos  before with door  slammers, ask them nicely they slam them even harder and roll in at 3-4am to do it. I ended  up locking one  of them out of their room gluing up the lock, they left the block soon after said they didnt feel safe, no regrets from me, these people are pure selfish trash.

Other Thais too afraid to say anything in the building often with good  cause, many are real vindictive gits like spoilt  children.

It is a big problem. I myself have severe problems with bars in the neighborhood. From my experience they can do what they want. Closing times, Shisha? Nobody cares and this in Central Pattaya. At the moment it is different because of the emergency degree. In the end the law does not cover such mentality sick people - especially here in Thailand. They seem to be above the law.

Actually  they do  but are  too  afraid  to do anything, often to even  talk about it.

Well  in this  case the law dealt with it, rightly or wrongly, but even then you know id  bet the neighbours  will still be a problem later.

He was a Policeman, why not just arrest the little sh!t,

on a trumped up charge if that's what it took.now its

the Copper that's in it.

regards Worgeordie

I read on another news website that it had been going on for some time.

Noisy neighbours are HELL!

Annoyed cops with guns aren't much fun either.

I feel most sorry for the kid's parents, although they should have controlled him from the start.
