Pannika faces dismissal from House panel

Palang Pracharath Party’s Sira Jenjaka is planning to dismiss Pannika Wanich, a leading figure in the Progressive Movement and former Future Forward Party spokeswoman, from the House committee on law, justice and human rights for "inappropriate" behaviour and being “impolite”.

 

As committee chairman, Sira said Pannika had acted inappropriately after she requested the police to clarify an incident in which two political activists were arrested in Rayong for holding signs criticising the government.

 

Sira said she referred herself to the police as a commissioner while, in fact, she was an adviser to the committee, and she did not ask permission to do so at a committee meeting.

 

Her action might be interpreted as a claim for political benefit and is, therefore, deemed to be inappropriate and impolite, which was not in keeping with the high standards of the committee, he said.

 

Sira has already informed Pannika about the matter and has requested her to resign. If she does not do so, the committee will call for a vote at a meeting depending on the agenda, he added.

Surprised she hasn't been charged with 'eating a sandwich with political intent'.

That was a popular made up charge back in June 2014, if you were caught reading Orwell's 1984.

So let me get this straight. An MP on a House committee, the purpose of which is to examine and scrutinise Law, Justice and Human rights. Is being asked to resign or face dismissal for asking the police to clarify details surrounding the arrest of a Thai citizen. What is the purpose of the House committee again?

A committee designed to look into reforms of Justice and Law. She was making enquiries about an arrest which seems well within her remit. She was dismissed because she used to be a Future Forward MP!

I guess she tried to do some good and she would get the reward, not the comittee. Perhaps the comittee took bribes to shut things up and she went past it.

If you ask any (pro) military person they say commissions, boards etc. are places to show up a few times and collect cash rewards or to network a bit. Commissions aren't really supposed to do anything, they are window dressing and only silly democratic minded people would think that they are their for reasons such as transparency or accountability.

Is this Sira the same on who throw a hissy fit in Phuket for not getting a police escort and just last week was found that he did not act inappropriately despite it being on video of him acting very inappropriately?

 

The hypocrisy of this little snake, and of course the timing of this is almost to much for my little brain to comprehend. Its as if he was let of his misdemeanor and in return he has been requested to do this.
