Financing car purchases

Featured Replies

Can you as a foreigner buy a car in installments? How much is required in equity? What visas do you need and do you need a permanent address in Thailand?

If working it is fairly easy, if not it can still be done but you will need to stump up a large deposit.

Will need a non immigrant visa.

I did in the past. Purchase was through Isuzu Leasing. Needed work permit and salary confirmation letter from my employer. If I recall I paid 20% down.

I paid 50% down for a new Mazda, financed the balance over three years in monthly payments with Siam Commercial Bank.  Was not asked for my work permit or salary.  Unproblematic loan facilitated by the car dealership.

With Honda I needed 30% down, my work permit and a guarantor for a 60 monthly installments loan.

Buy it cash, if you cannot afford it, buy a motorcycle instead. If this is still too much upfront go for a bicycle instead.

You're cold khunano. ????

You will need a Cert. of residence from immigration to register a car in your name so yes a permanent address, & visa i believe it can not be a tourist visa.
