Amazing Thailand! Kanchanaburi man "back from the dead" as he's being wrapped up for the morgue

A Kanchanaburi man who everyone thought had died while sitting on the toilet came round as a foundation rescue team worker was wrapping his body in cloth for transportation to the morgue.

His pulse and breathing had stopped but a policeman noticed that his eyes had suddenly opened.

He was rushed to hospital and was able to speak to reporters next day about his "recovery from death."

Late Wednesday night the Kanchanaburi police in western Thailand were called to a house in Tha Makham sub-district of Muang district.

Relatives of Ramet, aged 20, who lived alone, had not seen him and decided to break down his door. They then broke into the toilet.

Ramet was found sitting on the toilet with his trousers around his ankles. He was slumped against the wall and had no pulse and was not breathing.

Phitak Kan rescue foundation were first on the scene and their employee Wetwut told Sanook that the man was not breathing and had no pulse. Police were called and arrived with a medical team after 30 minutes.

A further check was done and medics determined there was no pulse and no injuries and they gave the go ahead for the foundation staff to wrap the body up and take it to the morgue for a more detailed autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

Relatives said that as this was being done a policeman noticed that Ramet had opened his eyes. He was rushed to hospital and has been recovering.

So much so that yesterday reporters from Sanook were able to speak to him. He said that at 1pm he had gone to the toilet as normal and lost consciousness. He couldn't remember much after that.

But as he was being examined later and being turned over he regained consciousness even though he couldn't move and was unable to call out to alert the medics that he was still alive.

As he was being wrapped up he said he managed to open his eyes.

Relatives told the media that Ramet is a sickly individual who suffers from valvular heart disease.

Not surprisingly they called the whole experience "mahatsajan" - amazing in Thai!

Throughout history there have been numerous cases of people being pronounced dead, but who have later recovered in the morgue, or the coffin, or the cave where they were laid to rest. Lazarus is one of the most famous cases. ????

I've done the same at 1am a few times... only to rise with the morning sun.

True story. As a 9 year old girl, my wife was bitten by a small snake near the village. She went back home and told her grandma, and she soon stopped breathing, lost consciousness, and they thought she died. They took her body to the temple, tied her hands, prepared her for a funeral, dressed her, and lay her in a (cheaply made) closed casket for 3 days while awaiting cremation. She was paralyzed, and couldn't move or talk, but could hear everyone and everything the whole time. Before they were going to cremate her, a lady asked her parents to take her to the village shaman first. Well, lucky for her, it worked, and she woke up. Today, she is claustrophobic, sees ghosts and talks to spirits, can often predict the future, and yes, even picked 3 digit lotto numbers correctly more than once to my total disbelief and amazement. Another amazing Thailand story. I'm still poor, but now take her lotto picks seriously, driving around for hours to find someone with the right numbers.

And there i was thinking only a doctor could pronounce someone dead, scary thought that some rescue untrained person could wrap you up there and then and send you to the morgue.

Not a lot of difference between the untrained person and the doctor.
