If you want to do good, give another amnesty for at least 6 months to all of us that don't have the virus than want to stay in Thailand and that may get the virus if we go back to our home countries. What do you have to lose? What do they have to gain from this? I guess most "stranded tourists" don't stay at hotels but in long term rentals, as there is no end in sight they probably cut expenses to the minimum possible so not much travel, no tours, no use of other tourist services so no real contribution to the Thai economy 1

I think it’s BS because no one will agree to this. We do have to check in and out of shops and public places, although this is largely ignored now. The idea is if someone develops Covid that we can track where they have been and also who else was there at the same time and might also have been infected. Sensible no ? sensible yes if you are tracking everyone not just foreigners

They can also prescribe it as a preventative medication. Borody says this could be the fastest and safest way to end the pandemic in Australia within 6-8 weeks.” “There is mounting worldwide clinical literature pointing to a 100% cure rate using Ivermectin Triple Therapy,” said Professor Borody. One of these is the $100,000 insurance requirement. Although insurance per se has not been mentioned, nor is there any mention of the loosening of the rules in place so I would guess that all these hoops will still have to be jumped through. But it still might appeal to a number of snowbirds. Thailand has many people that spend the whole winter, though those that do it for budgetary reasons will probably be out of the equation due to prohibitive costs.

If the quarantine is the same process as has been already conducted you don't have free use of anything for about 1/2 the time in quarantine. You are stuck in your room until that time and then when you are "released" you can only go to designated areas for limited time periods. Popular Post Stoker58
They need to get a sense of proportion. Heat and humidity, plus the lack of old people care homes, are what stopped CV19 happening in Thailand. It’s doubtful if anyone actually died from the virus here. On the other hand, millions of lives are being blighted by this cowardly policy of hiding behind the sofa and talking nonsense about 14 day quarantines. 4
newnative
They need to distinguish between tourists and long-stayers. They are two completely different things. Forget even talking about 'tourism' and 'quarantine' in the same breath. Never going to fly and stop wasting your time. Concentrate right now on getting the long-stayers to return--they are the only ones that might be ok with a quarantine as they are here for 3 to 4 months or more. As a previous poster said, if you agree to quarantine it shouldn't matter what country you are from--allow all the long-stayers in if they agree to quarantine. For tourism, why not experiment with a few safer countries, use fast testing, and see how it goes. 2

Minimum stay 30 days, Quarantine in a beach side hotel with access to a section of beach for 14 days, I believe in Patong. After a test and 14 days free to travel around Phuket, a week later and another test free to travel around the country. No mention of GPS trackers, brain implants or mind melds although it’s normal here to check in and out of stores and public places leaving our name and ‘phone number. Can be done on a website via a smart phone (IT’S NOT APP) if you wish. Be interesting to see what happens. Personally I think it’s a step in the right direction and clearly it’s aimed at high end tourists rather than cheap Charlie’s. No problem with that. How special do you think Thailand is? The only people this will appeal to is the ones with homes or family in Thailand. I can't see any high end/low end tourist being told where they have to stay for 2 weeks and then having to pay for the privilege. What on earth does cheap Charlies have to do with anything? Not only that, who would want to be stuck in Phuket for any period of time anyway? Of all the places to avoid in Thailand, Phuket is one of them. It was on the bones of its <deleted> before the pandemic started. 2

Popular Post Fex Bluse
Ultimately, all this misses the even more obvious problems 1. Thailand's biggest target - the Chinese - are not coming anytime soon. The Chinese government is keeping most of their people home to spend in China to prop up their dying economy. 2. Many people have lost investments, many have lost jobs. They will not be financially fit to blow money on an expensive vacation. 3. Most people will be afraid to fly especially with covid still a threat. The Thais can do whatever they want. No big numbers of tourists are coming this year. Maybe not even next year.
